Albion Online Working On Overhauling Hellgates
Sandbox Interactive have announced that they are overhauling the way Hellgates work in Albion Online. The developers intend to give the it a facelift, and that’s good to hear. Hellgates are landscape group dungeons where open PVP can occur. So a group could be pounding on the boss, only to be interrupted when another group shows up.
The outcome of the overhaul intents to make PVP run smoother so that random monsters do not interfere in the outcome of that PVP. In a way, it wants to maintain the integrity of PVP within the dungeons itself. To do this, the dev team have outline a series of objectives. They want Hellgates to be about PVP first and foremost, instead of PVE farming.
These including making mobs less influential, making exploiting timers and camping spawn points a no go and many more. You can check out the full notes at the Albion Online website here.
Other improvements listed for Hellgates are also interesting. There will be new dynamic spawn points and mob placement improvements. Above all else, the best change in our opinion are the addition of more types of Hellgates. There will be three in the future: 2v2 in green zones, 5v5 in yellow zones and 5v5 in the red and black zones. Rewards will scale based on the difficulty of the zone, with green being the easiest and black the hardest.
I love the last change because newbies, soloers and casual players can now participate in the Hellgate fun in early green zones. What are your thoughts?
