5. Wildstar

Wildstar is gone forever. This free to play (wasn’t when launched) MMORPG gave us the bright, colorful and unique world of Nexus that showed bags of promise. Two factions, the Exiles and the Dominion vying for survival and ownership of this foreign world was just the tip of the iceberg. The game’s combat was fresh, its dungeons and raids at end-game hard for those that dare to do it. Overall, Wildstar offered many high points, like its amazing housing system and movement mechanics amid a wave of carbon copy MMORPGs. Unfortunately, lack of content and players over four years since release mean NCSOFT, its publishers, ran out of patience. Wildstar was officially shut down in November 2018.

4. Cloud Pirates

Only a few months since its release, the plug was pulled on Cloud Pirates. The aerial PvP arena MMO did see some life during its run. The game utilized clever progression systems while keeping the focus on the fun team-based combat and air ship classes. Developers  My.com still have not come out with any explanation or reasoning for sunsetting the game. For us inquisitive folks, its easy to see why. The PvP ship battle game just isn’t popular enough to gain the traction and playerbase it needs. According to game data tracking site SteamSpy, the average peak concurrent players on Steam isn’t great. It averages 200 players online at any one time, which is not at all healthy for an MMO of any kind.

3. Bless Online

Neowiz announced in June 2019 that Bless Online will shut down in September. This brings to a close, one of the most notorious Korean MMORPG in recent history. What made Bless infamous you ask? Well, it failed in two of its native region launches for starters, then decided it was going to launch globally on Steam, it promised plenty of improvements both to quality of life and gameplay, and none of them were fulfilled at launch, and even the performance of the game was worst than ever before. They charged a buy to play fee at early access then made it go free to play, all the while, funding a new Bless game for the Xbox One called Bless: Unleashed, out later in 2019. The warning signs were there when players called them out, but the hype train was too strong, and the backlash came like a tsunami. Don’t think this is the last we’ve seen of Bless though, the IP is like a roach.

2. Paragon

We see a theme here. If you’re going to make a brand new MOBA game, it needs to be bloody brilliant or no one’s going to be playing it. In Paragon’s case, this isn’t why the game shut down for good this April. Paragon was a decent MOBA that had all the right ingredients, but lacked the manpower to maintain. Epic Games – you know them as the creators of Fortnite – was simply swamped with the game that is making them rich. That’s Fortnite if you haven’t already guessed. Therefore, they announced that Paragon was difficult to maintain, and would rather focus their energies on a game that actually brings in the money. Makes sense.

1. Marvel Heroes

At top spot is Marvel Heroes, yet another superhero MMORPG game that lost to the bad guys. The bad guys here are the developers themselves. Marvel Heroes started off very well. Its blend of ARPG gameplay meets Iron Man and co worked pretty well on the PC. It’s the game that Marvel fans flocked to, to play as all the newly released Heros that came out with each MCU release. Where it all went wrong however, was with a greedy, hastily designed console port. The Omega launch alienated a majority of the core player-base. In addition to that, bad mismanagement at the top of Gazillion Entertainment didn’t help the developers’ cause. This resulted in Disney pulling the license. Marvel Heroes officially went dark in November 2017. We’re still wondering if we’ll truly see a proper Marvel MMO.

New Cosmetics

Along with the new dungeon, several new cosmetic items will be available, including the regal Winter Sky costume set for 2600 Lumena, and three new leopard print headband hat items for 400 Lumena each.

Future Updates

As Bless Online have been working to determine its update cadence and prepare new content and improvements for Bless, the community felt there has been a lull in our communications. Rest assured, more updates are in the pipeline and we are still working hard on improvements and updates for the game!

Additionally, look for a Producer’s Letter later next month; it will have some exciting details about the next update planned for Bless Online. Neowiz been listening to feedback and have some changes in the works that players will be excited about.

The Rift of Time and Space

After temporarily closing on November 7th, the Rift of Time and Space will be reopening with a brand new third stage! This expansion will take RoTS to a total of 30 rounds (previously 20), add a new area, and will also see the addition of new stage rewards: bracelet items that give additional effects to the wearer!

This new third stage has never been released before in any region, so Bless players on Steam will be the first to try it out! We can’t wait to hear what you think.
New Holiday Costume

In the spirit of the holiday season, a new festive costume will be added to the Lumena Shop! The Snowflake Winter Festival Costume can be purchased for 2600 Lumena.

Korean Region IP Unlocked + Language Added

With this update, the Korean region will be unlocked, and players from that region will be able to enjoy playing Bless on Steam! Korean language support will also be added at this time. We are thrilled to be able to support our Korean players in this way following the discontinuation of the KR Bless Online service, and we look forward to them joining Bless Online on Steam.

Holiday In-Game Events

This December, starting on December 1st and running through December 31st, we will be holding a Festive December Login Event! During this time period, players will be able to get a variety of great rewards, including the Ruru Brother’s Magic Pocket item that allows players to summon the Rand Brother Turban and access the special gathering and mining area within it.

To get rewards, all players have to do is log in to Bless, click on “Collect Daily Rewards” in the Check Attendance window, and get the rewards on the character of their choice!

In addition to this login event, starting on December 5th after the update maintenance, the Winter Festival Event will be taking place in game! There are three interconnected quests for this festival event, and players can complete each of them once per day. During these quests, players will have to make sure the festival celebration goes off without a hitch by collecting the Light of the World Tree, helping citizens with their wishes, and more!

Each quest comes with a special reward, including a temporary flying mount, firecrackers, and consumable items.

This is the largest update since Bless Online entered Early Access back in May, and it serves as the game’s first post-launch content drop. All through the month of November there will also be a login event that gives any and all players who sign into the game the chance to earn exclusive costumes and mount skins. Here’s everything you need to know about the new update:

#1 A New Level Cap Increase To 50

Anyone who already has characters at the former level cap of 45 will be extra excited about the new level 50 cap! They, along with everyone else who has a bit further to go, will be able to continue growing their characters through new areas, story quests, and hunt quests. As the level cap will be increased, all characters will need to be at level 50 to participate in Royal Quests, which will appear randomly each day.  Union players will continue their story by journeying to request help from the Pantera King, while Hieron players will have to forge their way to meet with Great Chieftain Chinuwa in Lupuscana. The new areas added include the Burning Desert, a sweltering and unforgiving wasteland rife with monstrous creatures, and Shaqqara, a mysterious zone filled with ancient ruins.

#2 The Two New Zones Are Massive For Bless Online

Bless Online’s new update will provide players with two huge new zones to adventure in. Firsly, the Burning Desert will be a large sand dump filled with ancient monsters that players can tackle for XP points. Expect to see new hunt quests and other side stories here. Similarly, the Shaqqara zone offers the same content but its biome is a lot more interesting. Filled with ancient ruins and mysteries, players must quest to unlock the secrets buried within. Both zones feel good to adventure in and will provide the all important experience points on your journey to level 50.

#3 There’s A New Level 50 Dungeon That’s Actually Fun

Zeeto’s Laboratory is also a level 50 dungeon that players can enter once per day (again with a recommended group number of five). Players can enter Zeeto’s Laboratory in the Forbidden Area of the Polluted Forest. Inside, players will track down Zeeto himself and uncover the secret behind the underground laboratory!

Players will not be able to proceed through the dungeon unchallenged, as standing in their way will be mid-level bosses Zeedraco, Elem, Chikeekee, and Cimon! The final boss duo consists of Zeetatan and Zeeto. Players will be able to potentially get Spirit Harvesting Skills (1 Hour), Rare grade armor from the Aspiring weapon series, Hero grade armor from the Corrupted series, armorsmithing materials for the Corrupted series and Aspiring series, and crafting materials for the Legendary Mount Zeetatan.

Bless Online Is Going Free To Play

To the surprise of no one, Bless Online will be launching as a completely free to play MMORPG. As is the case with many Early Access MMOs, developers offer players a chance to play immediately for a price. And players that were woo-ed by the hype this year bought one of three Founders Packs to help fund the game’s arrival on Steam. With much of that player base now gone, it appears going free to play was the only way moving forward. Keep in mind however, that Bless Online does have an optional membership subscription should one wants to be pampered with boosts, buffs and other in-game benefits.

Early Access Supporters Get Appreciation Rewards

But what about those players who own Founders Packs and want to return come October 23rd? Neowiz hasn’t forgotten all about you, and in a rare gesture of appreciation, are actually giving away some tangible rewards. These include free premium membership depending on the pack that you purchased, and one of them – the Collector’s Edition – even gives you the lifetime sub. The other goodies like skins and outfits may be considered fluff, but it’s still something. Bless Online In Korea Shut Down For This

What players of the global version on Steam may not have known, is that in Neowiz’s home country of South Korea, the original game is shutting down. You read that right. The original version of the game debuted in Korea a couple of years ago and have been doing decently. It funded Neowiz’s ambition to launch the game elsewhere such as Russia and Japan, which eventually shut down as well. So why is Bless’s catalyst being shut down? Neowiz are apparently throwing all their eggs in the Steam release’s basket. In order to go full gung-ho, they’ll need the manpower. So RIP Bless Korea.

New Launch Content Coming This Month

The free to play and official launch isn’t the only new things coming to the game this October. The official update also mentions some brand new content to welcome players both old and new. For starters there’s the Patala Raid, targeted at high-level players, makes its way into the game accompanied by all new bosses and loot. What’s more, players of all levels will be able to join in celebrating the spooktacular holiday season in the world of Bless with events held Oct. 4th through Nov. 7th. • The Attendance Check resets every day at 00:00 depending on each region.
• The Attendance Check is complete only after logging in, clicking on the “Collect Daily Reward” button, and claiming the reward.
• Even though attendance can be checked by all characters in one region, the rewards can be redeemed by only one character.
• Although Attendance Check is available in the Tutorial Zone, you will not be able to access the mailbox. Please collect your Attendance Check reward once you finish the the tutorial and are able to access the mailbox.
• The Attendance Check rewards can be redeemed for 15 days. If you completed the Attendance Check for all 15 days, please wait until the next Attendance Check event.
• The rewards will be sent via Mail and can be found in the claim queue for 7 days. Make sure to redeem the rewards before then since they will be deleted from the Mail Inbox.
• If you miss a login day, your progress doesn’t reset! You’ll pick up on whatever number you left off on.
• Please note that after collecting it, the reward cannot be transferred to another character.

Bless Online – currently in early access – gets its largest content update yet featuring the Assassin class. Additionally, new PvP content also arrives in the form of the Siege of Castra battleground. Capital War is another new PvP mode which pits the two faction against each other in the open world.

“We’re extremely excited to see what players think of the Assassin and these new PVP improvements,” said Sungjin Ko, Executive Producer of Neowiz Bless Studio. “Bless Online, at its core, is a game about the conflict between the Hieron and the Union factions. With this update, some of the most prolific PVP battles will now unfold for players to take part. And the Assassin? Well, what can we say – everyone loves a stabby stealth class.”

This week also marks the first sale on the base game for Bless Online, as it’s discounted for a week on Steam. There also two new special bundles available that are themed around the Assassin class and come with unique costumes, items, and more to help players level up their new stealth-driven characters.
