Bungie’s Guardians for Australia fundraising campaign is now live on the Bungie Store and Bungie Store EU to support both Australia’s firefighting efforts and the country’s animal rescue and conservation efforts. The bush fires currently ravaging Australia have been devastating. Many people have lost their homes, firefighters are risking their lives daily, and an estimated hundreds of millions of wild animals have fallen victim to the fires.

All profits will directly be donated to both WIRES, Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation, and NSW Rural Fire Service, which services the state of New South Wales, where the fires have been especially devastating and are in dire need of containment.

Bungie has developed a limited time Guardians for Australia T-shirt, which comes with an exclusive Destiny 2 “Star Light, Star Bright” emblem redemption code with purchase that is now available for pre-order on the Bungie Store and Bungie Store EU between, Friday, 17 January, and Tuesday, 18 February at 9 a.m. Pacific (5 p.m. GMT), ending with the weekly reset and the end of Crimson Days.

Bungie also want to thank local Guardians in Australia for raising $12K AUD and counting for the Australian Red Cross – please see their fundraiser here. Thank you for your support and being a part of the Bungie family.

In a shock announcement only a couple of hours ago, Activision has revealed that they are ending its partnership with Bungie, makers of the Destiny franchise. However, Bungie will still retain full control of the the MMO co-op shooter moving forward.

Activision has released a statement of the matter, and says that Bungie will assume full publishing rights and responsibilities for the Destiny franchise, while Activision will increase its focus on owned IP and other projects.

Bungie too, has now released their own statement below:

“With Activision, we created something special. To date, Destiny has delivered a combination of over 50 million games and expansions to players all around the world,” it said. “More importantly, we’ve also witnessed a remarkable community – tens of millions of Guardians strong – rise up and embrace Destiny, to play together, to make and share memories, and even to do truly great things that reach far beyond the game we share, to deliver a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.”

As for the content road map planned for 2019, Bungie confirms that it’s still happening. The studio’s plan for more content drops will not be hampered by the split in partnership with Activision. Players that are concerned with Battle.net dropping its support for Destiny 2 won’t have to worry too much, as Blizzard’s customer support has Tweeted that support will still continue.

Bungie Officially Responds To Destiny 2 Player Bans

Destiny 2 is officially out for PC, and it’s great. The same cannot be said for some players though, who have reported receiving bans from the game for no reason. Its never for no reason of course, and many are pointing out third party app usage as the cause. Remember, most games like these will have third party apps that enhances gameplay. Therefore, naturally some players will check them out.

After 24 hours of silence, Bungie now have a statement to clarify what’s going on with the player bans.

We have seen lots of questions about bans being issued in the PC version of Destiny 2. To provide some information, we would like to share some facts.

The following is true:

  • Destiny 2 cannot automatically ban you, only Bungie can ban a player after a manual investigation
  • Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC
  • Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game
  • We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc.
  • Information on using third-party applications can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101
  • We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta

We are committed to providing an experience that is fun and fair for the millions of players who have joined us in this community.

Moral of the story is, make sure what you’re using isn’t against a game’s Terms of Service.
