Gaijin Entertainment and Darkflow Software studio announce the release of the “Heaven’s Wrath” Content Update for the brutal online shooter Cuisine Royale. Now the game Champions can tear enemies apart with cannon fire from armoured vehicles, crush them with meteorite showers and burn up foes with Molotov cocktails.

The Cuisine Royale arsenal is gradually getting more and more new legendary weapons. The latest additions are the infantry modification of the Soviet Mosina rifle, the German MP 41 submachine gun and the American Colt New Service M1909 revolver. The most terrifying shiny new weapon is the Molotov cocktail, the famous WW2 era handmade incendiary grenade. Burning liquid from it sticks to the enemy and deals them damage even after they have flown the explosion zone.

The list of vehicles available in Cuisine Royale is updated with a couple of new ones carrying guns – for the first time in the game. The Luftvärnsterrängdragbil M40 is an anti-air SPG with a 40mm autocannon with 20 shells. Metropolitana is a recon vehicle with a 20 mm autocannon and 100 shells. Players should take the gunner seat to operate these cannons, so a team of at least two people is needed to both drive and shoot the enemy down. These vehicles appear on maps randomly and are quite rare, so it is highly recommended to equip a special item that detects them at distance. For example, leopard panties will do.

This Update’s signature Heaven’s Wrath ritual summons a deadly meteor shower targeted at a number of random spots within the safe circle. The other cool feature is the Shield ritual that creates an ice block in front of the user that is able to withstand some of the incoming bullets. It’s a valuable aid in a situation where the enemy has you under fire in an open space. The Molotov Cocktail trap sign spawns an incendiary grenade right under the enemy’s feet. Finally, the Ritual of Second Wind temporarily allows all Champions in a battle to use their special abilities without any cooldown.

The full description of the Update is available at the official Cuisine Royale website: https://cuisineroyale.com

Cuisine Royale, the brutal online shooter that blends a mix of dark humor and fast-paced gunplay, has announced something big. Coming to both PC and Xbox One for free, the game will be dropping it’s latest expansion soon titled Age of Nagual. The update introduces a massive, new map to discover, a new playable character with unique abilities and numerous new weapons, items and player skills. The game has also seen drastic updates to various gameplay mechanics which were based heavily on player feedback. Here’s some of the highlights and why it’s worth looking forward to.

A New Shift In Combat Abilities

While realistic melee weapons and firearms remain the primary way of dispatching your opponents in Cuisine Royale, you can now enhance your combat abilities through supernatural powers and mystic rituals. Gunslinger Annie, can now slow-down time in what is the first proper implementation of bullet time mechanics in a multiplayer shooter ever. In Cuisine Royale, this mechanic which was long deemed impossible to do in online games, allows you to slow down time around you, as other players continue to play at normal speed. This creates a different set of timelines, which is resolved as soon as you and Annie return back to normal speed – and you’ll have to see for yourself how exactly this paradox plays out. But that’s not the only new, cool superpower you can find in Cuisine Royale. Another character, Clyde, is capable of unleashing his Beast persona and go into a raging battle frenzy, while the new character Ocelot can move around the map undetectable by temporarily entering a hidden spiritual dimension. Other spells and rituals that can be cast by players include the Portal, allowing you to instantly travel between two points, or the Zombie Apocalypse, which summons a horde of undead monsters into the map.

The New Map: Mexico

The new map, Mexico, is about four times bigger than the previous map of Cuisine Royale and a perfect fit to the brutal battles that will take place there. You will fight over vast mountain ridges, alongside rivers, multi-story buildings and even the Pyramids – making the jetpack a very welcome find to quickly cover vertical distances and attack enemies from unexpected locations. Several elements on the map are destructible, which makes blowing up a bridge a perfect starting point to ambush unsuspecting enemies. You can also collect golden Aztec coins on the map and play with them in the randomly appearing slot machines that may yield weapons, armor or other items – including a set of pre-cooked hand grenades, so be careful! Aztec coins can be used in the current match only and cannot be bought for real money.

Multiple New Weapons To Play With

Players can also utilize swords and massive axes to get up close and personal with melee attacks, instill panic with a well tossed grenade, snipe them from afar or ambush them with demonic traps and magic – there’s an almost unlimited number of ways to make your stay in Cuisine Royale an unforgettable experience. Players who own ‘Weird West’ season’s “Weird West Stories Book” DLC will get several bonuses, including a set of cosmetic items and early access to the new character Ocelot, but none of them will give any in-game advantages over players that enjoy Cuisine Royale for free.

Cuisine Royale is a free to play battle royale game that often times feel like parody of the heavy hitters of the genre. Marketed as a free-for-all using kitchen utensils for weapons, the game shares the same formula as conventional battle royale games but does enough to make parts of it interesting.

Nude Start

After a quick 10GB download, you’ll hop into the main screen and notice that you’re in your underwear. Nothing to worry about as it’s commonplace for games like these to make you work and play to earn better outfits and equipment later on.

Having no inventory, XP or kitchen collections, there’s only one thing to do and that’s play. Cuisine Royale offers three game modes – solo, duo and squad. Queue times are rather long but it’s unsure if that’s indicative of the current playerbase numbers. Remember, it’s competing with a ton of more established battle royale games out there. The one cool feature it has though, is being able to switch matchmaking servers on the fly without needing to restart the game or use some crappy launcher. There are three locations available, in North America, EU and Easter Europe.

What’s The Gameplay Like

Once you’ve successfully queued and gotten a match, the fun starts. The first real big difference from games like Fortnite and PUBG you’ll notice is that on solo and duo modes, you don’t jump out of a flying vehicle and parachute down to your chosen starter area. Players immediately spawn in random locations on a cozy farm-town map with houses and other buildings strewn about. You objective in the first couple of minutes is to search and gather as much gear as you can. If you’ve had any battle royale experience in the past, this phase of gameplay will be second nature.

This is also where Cuisine Royale shows off its uniqueness. Instead of dropping Kevlar, helmets and other practical war gear, you get pots and pans instead. One kitchen pan I picked up was aptly named “Buttocks Armor” and your character actually hangs it on your behind. It’s hilarious, and that’s the theme of the game. But there’s nothing funny about the weapons – you’ll be happy to see some cool guns that spans multiple eras, from WWII to the Cold War that can be used. For gameplay, firefights are decent and fun due to the adrenaline rush, but the overall package suffers due to a few issues. Firstly, the game isn’t well optimized, so clipping is commonplace. In one instance, I could see an enemy player’s body and gear clipping through the door before they opened to enter, and that gave me a huge advantage. However, as usual with games like these, 4-player squad mode is perhaps the best way to experience Cuisine Royale, as the craziness and hilarity is multiplied four fold.

What About Progression

Can you earn cool cosmetics and level up your character? Yes you can. Playing matches awards you with XP points and other goodies that allows you to grow your inventory and earn cool outfits to get you out of your underwear. The game has a progression system called CookBooks where you fill recipe pages in order to craft a certain item, weapon or outfit. It’s clever and thematic to the game, but most importantly, it’s a fair way for players to earn progression rewards without needing to pay money. It does take a bit of work and will be a long term grind, and the alternative of course is to buy things from the Steam Store.

In addition to that, Cuisine Royale also does have seasonal challenges and seasons, another common feature of modern battle royale games. Simple take part in simple daily missions like killing three players, or finishing matches in the top 10 and that will reward you with some good things as well.

Graphics and Optitmization

If there’s one thing that Cuisine Royale needs improvement with, is its graphics and presentation. The game looks aged and dated and the surprising thing is that it was only released this calendar year in 2018. It looks like an alpha build of PUBG, which is not a good thing. If that’s not bad enough, it also runs poorly on good gaming rigs. Highest graphic settings brings out issues like clipping and the occasional screen tear which can be frustrating, because Cuisine Royale is not an early access title. But since it’s a free to play game, one can only hope they iron out these issues in the future.

Is Cuisine Royale Worth Playing?

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a battle royale alternative that feels like a parody closer to PUBG rather than Fortnite, then Cuisine Royale should do the trick. It offers that familiar rush that is only made extra comedic by the way you dress, look and of course the hilarious kitchen items that you use for armor. For a free to play game, it’s worth a look, but it doesn’t earn top marks for the host of issues it still suffers, like poor optimization and long queue times.
