Black Desert Online’s Eternal Winter Expansion

On the 6^th of April, BDO players will be able jump into the Eternal Winter expansion. This is a brand new region, full of frost and snow, and it contains a bunch of new monster areas in addition to mysterious new storylines and lore to explore. Throughout the zone there’s a new frostbite debuff that will hinder your adventure if you don’t find ways to keep warm. The expansion launch will also bring out the brand new class to play, Drakania. She’s a melee two-handed sword wielding heroine, the arch-nemesis of the Guardian class, and it’ll be interesting to see if that is explored further at all in this update. Finally coming with this launch is a revamp to the Balenos region, which will now contain all new story-cutscenes.

Rise Online Launches

Now do we have a new MMORPG launch this month? Yes we do. Rise Online, the spiritual successor to Knight Online, will have its free to play launch on April 15^th. Developed by Roko Game Studios, Rise Online will be available in both English and Turkish languages, and has all the trappings of a classic MMORPG. It’s got a large open world to quest in, a substantial PvE storyline, 2 factions to pick from for PvP and four classes available at launch. Now while all of that sounds normal, here’s the interesting part, it’s also a blockchain MMORPG, so it will have NFT, or Non-fungible token.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.1

The big launch this month is of course, Patch 6.1 Newfound Adventure, the first major update of the Endwalker expansion cycle. So, what’s in it? There’s a bunch of good stuff, but we’re highlighting the most important ones. Most notably, the Main Scenario Quest continues, and once you’ve completed that there’s plenty of new side quests to tackle. Along the way, you can dabble in a new dungeon, a new alliance raid, ultimate raid, and a trial as well.

Outside of current PvE, PvP players will get a new 5v5 mode called the Crystalline Conflict which contains new PvP rewards and improvements, and for housing, a new lottery system will go live in this update, kinda like the green card, but the reward which you paid for in advanced, is a shiny new house in Ishgard if you win. Finally for those not at current content yet, there’s good news because Patch 6.1 will also implement changes to the base game, a realm reborn, like adding the trust system to the original MSQ line now to make things go even quicker if you’d rather not wait in queue. Safe to say this is a pretty big update and while the release date only says mid-April currently, we’re bound to learn more in the coming weeks.

Guild Wars 2 Revives Living World Season 1

ArenaNet will be bringing back a huge chunk of missing content this month, that players for years that joined the game post 2014 had to learn about in dialogue and text only. On April 19^th, for the first time ever, Living World Season 1 will be coming back to the game permanently, over five episodes, and the first episode Flame and Frost will arrive that week, to kick off the beginning of Scarlett’s War. This will be free for everyone including free players, and will now offer a cohesive narrative bridge for both returning and new players that are starting the Elder Dragon story line. On top of that, this is a good opportunity to earn those legacy achievement points and rewards. On the same day the Challenge Mode for the End of Dragons expansion strike missions will also go live, so gather your buddies and happy hunting.

World of Warcraft will Announce Next Expansion

Something else exciting happening on April 19^th, is the Blizzard reveal for World of Warcraft’s next expansion. At this point in time, we know almost nothing about it except the obvious fact that it will probably continue the story-line from the Shadowlands epilogue in Eternity’s End Until then, WoW players, if you’re returning to the game, there’s plenty to get caught up on in terms of new content with the latest update, or WoW Classic or even the new Sylvanas novel that got released last week.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Endwalker

• New Main Scenario Quests – Patch 6.1 will mark the start of a new chapter for Warriors of Light.
• “Tataru’s Grand Endeavor” – The spotlight falls upon Tataru in this new sidequest series, which will begin in Patch 6.1 and run until Patch 6.5.
• New Role Quest – An additional story will become available after completing all Endwalker role quests.
• PvP Updates – New PvP content known as Crystalline Conflict, PvP action updates, and a new rewards system will be implemented.
• New Housing Area – Plots in Empyreum, the new Ishgardian residential district, will become available for purchase.
• The Unending Codex – A new glossary of characters and terms up through Patch 6.0 can be unlocked in the main scenario of Patch 6.1. All characters and terms will not be immediately available, with new entries added as the story unfolds.
• New Dungeon – Further details to be announced at a later date.
• New Trial – The Endsinger’s Aria.
• New Unreal Trial – Ultima’s Bane (Unreal).
• New 24-Player Alliance Raid – Myths of the Realm #1.
• Miscellaneous Updates – Additional content including job adjustments, New Game+ for Endwalker and a portion of 6.1, new Hrothgar hairstyles, more glamour plates, the ability to try on items from the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Store and more.

Further details for revisions to the A Realm Reborn main scenario content were also revealed. Among them, the new Duty Support system, based off the existing Trust system, will be implemented for A Realm Reborn (2.0) content in Patch 6.1. With this new system, all 4-player main scenario dungeons and trials will be able to be completed with NPCs. The Duty Support System will also be expanded in future updates to support Patch 2.x content, as well as Heavensward expansion content and beyond.

Looking ahead, future Patch 6.1x updates will include:

• New Ultimate Duty – A new Ultimate challenge, Dragonsong’s Reprise, is coming in Patch 6.11
• Side Story Quests – Various new side story quests will launch including the “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures” in Patch 6.15 and “Omega: Beyond the Rift” sometime in the Patch 6.1x series.
• New Tribal Quests – Starting with Patch 6.15, players will be able to experience new Arkasodara tribe quests for battle classes and jobs.
• New Custom Deliveries – Ameliance Leveilleur Custom Deliveries coming with Patch 6.15.
• Data Center Travel – Planned for Patch 6.18, Data Center Travel will allow players to visit Worlds in different logical data centers within the same physical data center.

To celebrate the launch, a map of Australia and New Zealand has been created in the style of the in-game world map of Hydaelyn. It contains major cities and landmarks, alongside a selection of in-game creatures that may be familiar for those in the region.

Primarily planned to support a smoother play experience for all in the Oceania region, the Oceania Data Center also marks the first part of a plan to expand global server capacity for the game and combat congestion in the face of continually growing player numbers.
 
Additionally, due to the opening of the Oceania Data Center raising the global server capacity and the fact existing players’ play time and log-in tendencies are gradually returning to normal, the decision has been made to resume sales of the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online Starter Edition and Complete Edition as of today. New registrations for the Free Trial remain suspended as of today, but the situation will be monitored regularly to identify a time in which registrations can be reopened.

First up, players can check out The Excitatron 6000, which is a special instance similar to the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah, and it can be accessed after finding and opening treasure coffers obtained from kumbhiraskin treasure maps. Here, players will have the chance to test their luck and obtain priceless treasures.

Additionally for those wanting a challenge, the Savage version of the Pandæmonium: Asphodelos raid has been added to the game and can be accessed using the Raid Finder. Just be warned, this will take skill and a good group composition in order to stand a chance of completion. Upon completing Pandæmonium: Asphodelos (Savage) duties, a treasure coffer will appear containing an Asphodelos Coffer. Using this item transforms it into gear corresponding to the user’s current job. In addition, the coffers that appear upon completing Asphodelos: The Fourth Circle (Savage) yield weapons.

• New Main Scenario Quests – With the fate of the First secured, the Scions make their long-awaited return to the Source. But in the new future they now look towards, will that which is written upon the pages of history be an anthem of hope…or a dirge of despair?
• New Raid Dungeon: Eden’s Promise – The third chapter of this 8-player raid series continues the story of Ryne and her mysterious counterpart Gaia, who have succeeded in restoring balance to the elements of the Empty. Patch 5.4 brings new challenging battles—including a new boss designed by KINGDOM HEARTS® director and FINAL FANTASY series veteran, Tetsuya Nomura—available in both normal and savage difficulties.
• Chronicles of a New Era – The Sorrow of Werlyt Updates – Players can continue their attempt to thwart the Empire’s warmachina development project alongside Gaius after vanquishing the Sapphire Weapon. However, newly unearthed information alludes to another foe lurking in the shadows: The Emerald Weapon.
• New Trial: Castrum Marinum – With the existence of a warmachina code-named “Emerald” confirmed, it falls to Warriors of Light to spearhead a pre-emptive strike before this menace can be unleashed upon the world. Players can challenge Emerald Weapon in both normal and extreme difficulties.

• Performance Action Update – Playable instruments have been expanded to include the violin.
• Triple Triad Updates – The popular card game has received a variety of updates and improvements, including UI updates, eased deckbuilding rules for newcomers, and new tournaments. Additionally, players will now have the ability to create their own custom tournaments for up to 8 players, in which they can customize the game rules.
• Crafter and Gatherer Updates – Adjustments to certain crafter actions and a revamp of the collectable and aetherical reduction systems for gatherers, and more will arrive in Patch 5.4.
• Ishgardian Restoration Update (Patch 5.41) – The fourth and final stage of the Restoration of the Holy See of Ishgard will commence, with players working together to help their World complete the restoration.
• “Save the Queen” Update (Patch 5.45) – The next chapter of “Save the Queen” continues the story penned by renowned game designer Yasumi Matsuno (FINAL FANTASY Tactics, FINAL FANTASY XII). The update will also introduce Delubrum Reginae—new large-scale battle content with both a 24-player normal mode and high-difficulty 48-player savage mode for players to undertake.
• Resistance Weapon Updates (Patch 5.45) – Players who complete the Save the Queen questline in Patch 5.45 will be able to further upgrade their Resistance Weapons an additional two tiers. The second upgrade tier will also allow players  to customise certain parameters on the weapon to match their playstyle.
• Blue Mage Update (Patch 5.45) – The limited job will receive a number of new updates, including an increased level cap to 70, new blue magic to learn from enemies, new job-specific equipment, and additions to the Blue Mage Log.
• Skysteel Tool Update (Patch 5.45) – Disciples of the Land and Hand can further upgrade their Skysteel Tools to aid in crafting and gathering.
• Adjustments to PvE and PvP actions, the addition of quick matches to Doman Mahjong, a new treasure hunt dungeon, new UI skins, and more.

Allagan tomestones of revelation will be added with patch 5.4. This new currency can only be received after reaching level 80 with at least one class or job.

Allagan Tomestones of Allegory

The weekly obtainment cap for Allagan tomestones of allegory will be removed.
* The maximum limit of 2,000 tomestones has not been changed.

Allagan Tomestones of Phantasmagoria

• Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria will no longer be obtainable.
  All trials and duties that currently yield Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria will instead offer either Allagan tomestones of allegory or Allagan tomestones of revelation.
• Players will no longer be able to exchange Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria for items.
  Although Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria will not be removed and may still be exchanged for Allagan tomestones of allegory, items currently obtained with Allagan tomestones of phantasmagoria will be purchased through other means.

Allagan Tomestones of Goetia

With the release of patch 5.4, any remaining Allagan tomestones of goetia in the possession of players will be removed from the game. Players currently carrying Allagan tomestones of goetia should exchange them for Allagan tomestones of Phantasmagoria by speaking with Auriana at Revenant’s Toll (X:22.7 Y:6.7) prior to patch 5.4.

Allagan Tomestones of Poetics

Allagan tomestones of poetics will continue to be available from trials and duties up to level 70, as well as several types of Duty Roulette.

Additionally, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida announced plans to support the PlayStation®4 console version of FINAL FANTASY XIV on the PlayStation®5 console. Players will be able to utilize the in-game PS4Pro display settings, and the PlayStation 5 hardware will ensure quick load times.
 
December’s Patch 5.4 update will include a number of updates and new content for adventurers of all playstyles:

• New Main Scenario Quests – Following the grand conclusion of the Shadowbringers story in Patch 5.3, players will set out on a new adventure.
