Ubisoft has announced that this year’s Halloween event, a crossover with Dead by Daylight, will be available today. To celebrate Halloween, the Trapper from Dead by Daylight has slipped into For Honor and will not spare anyone!

Beginning 21st October until 11th November, For Honor will have a limited time event in partnership with Dead by Daylight, called “Survivors of the Fog”. During this limited-time event, players will be able to play the “Survivors” game mode in a spooky environment, based in Dead by Daylight’s universe. This game mode is a 4v4 PvP game mode where minions are replaced with a powerful AI, the Trapper, roaming the map looking to prey on the heroes.

During this event, players will be able to play through a Free Event Pass and gain access to a multitude of rewards such as a new Battle Outfit, an Effect as well as an Ornament. Along with the free event pass rewards, players will also have access to limited-time Dead by Daylight themed executions, illustrious outfits and an exclusive signature.

Also, an Amazon Prime Gaming giveaway campaign will begin on 21st October, offering bonus packs to Amazon Prime and Prime Video Customers. The bonus packs offer players seven days of champion status, two scavenger crates and three battlepass tiers. This giveaway will end on 29th November.

Ubisoft has announced that For Honor Year 5 Season 3 Tempest will be available on 9th September. A special throwback event will also take place later this season along with the return of the Covenant Games.

Tempest brings harsh torrential rains and cyclonic winds after a period of intense drought in Year 5 Season 2 Mirage. When Heathmoor’s warriors wished for water during the drought, the Gods answered – but not in the way the warriors wanted. Now, gigantic tidal waves wreck Heathmoor’s villages and harbours along the coastlines.

Beginning 9th September until 30th September, there will be a limited time launch event, Storm Tides. During this event, players will be able to play through a Free Event Pass and gain access to a multitude of rewards such as a new Battle Outfit, an Effect as well as an Ornament. During the event, there will also be new weapons available for players to loot.

Players can purchase a Battle Pass with premium content including new Battle Outfits, Ornament, Execution, Podium and Effects.  Additionally, for this season, all heroes will be receiving a unique execution available for 7,000 Steel. Following last season’s Testing Grounds, improvements to Orochi, Raider, and Option Selects and other fight elements will be added to the live game based off players’ feedback. From 16th – 30th September, For Honor will also have another phase of Testing Grounds. The focus will be a second pass on the Shinobi from the previous phase as well as new Dominion Game Mode improvements. Changes for Dominion will include capture speed, hard point, tracking, and other UI improvements.

Later in the season, players can also experience Wrath of the Jormungandr, a throwback event bringing back original rewards and weapons.

In Title Update 2, the Covenant Games also return. This time around, players will be able to play the Heralds of Chimera game mode, where they can prove their worth to Daubeny. The rewards include a Battle Outfit and an Ornament.

With over 25 million players, For Honor is available on PlayStation®4, the Xbox One family of devices, and Windows PC, as well as on Ubisoft+, the Ubisoft subscription service.* For Honor is playable on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility.

Overwatch Is Running A Double XP Weekend From Today Till June 12

Blizzard’s Overwatch seems to be in a good mood lately. And why wouldn’t they? The game is currently celebrating its first anniversary, and it has been a huge success. Millions of players daily, on top of a healthy competitive scene will be encouraging for the developers.

To continue the celebrations, Overwatch is turning another double XP event. This one begins today, June 8th and will last all the way up to June 12th. Therefore, if you haven’t got plans this weekend, it’s time to grab that juicy experience points.

All sources of XP within the game will be active, so pretty much everything you do will be rewarded. But that’s not all. The last day of the double xp weekend will also conclude the anniversary event. Thus, it’s a fantastic opportunity to grab a few more anniversary loot crates too. Don’t miss out on the skins – they’re lovely.

To find out when exactly the event begins in your region, check out the official Overwatch site for timings here. Overall, it’s been a solid first year for the game. Can they keep their playerbase well into its second year? They should be able to. I mean, it’s Blizzard we’re talking about.

Ubisoft’s For Honor Is Steadily Losing Players

It feels like only a short time has passed since For Honor was released, garnering critical acclaim for its gritty melee multiplayer bash fest. For all the hype, Ubisoft did have a lot of issues with it.

Peer to peer is one of them, and it severely hampered game queues and matchmaking even to this day. But perhaps the biggest qualm today is that the game just can’t hold onto its player base. PC Gamer are reporting that For Honor has lost around 95% of its player base on Steam.

While there are no indications of player numbers from Ubisoft’s own launcher, it’s a troubling sign. What’s worse is that even with new content additions, such as the latest heroes, nothing changes.

The game launched the Shadow and Might update a few months ago, with new heroes and maps. That saw a small jump according to data site Githyp, but the figures have dwindled again. Major online games tend to struggle with “sophomore” period – the first six to twelve months after release.

That period is perhaps the most crucial, more so for online multiplayer games than MMORPGs. Players are always looking for the best online competitive experience, and will move on swiftly if they can’t be satisfied in the current game. So what went wrong with For Honor? If you have a theory, we’d like to read about it in the comments!

3 Million Players Are Testing For Honor In Open Beta

Ubisoft’s latest triple A title For Honor is currently in open beta where 3 million players are reportedly playing the game.

The open beta is incredibly successful so far and appears to be attracting large amounts of players. For Honor is multiplatform, so this includes PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. In a tweet, Ubisoft released the numbers to the public.

For Honor will release on Valentines Day, 14th of February and there is great hype already surrounding the game. This is the first time that Ubisoft has deviated away from the open world and sandbox titles they are known for. Games like Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs and Far Cry are all Ubisoft staples, so it will be interesting to see how For Honor will fare.

In my dabbling with the game, I think it’s definitely going to be a hit with players. Especially for those who enjoy the romance and glory of melee combat. The game’s combat system is a mixture of groundbreaking mechanics.

There are multiple match modes to participate in large 4V4V4 team fights, or smaller brawls. Players must get into ‘guard’ stance by clicking the Control key in order to be effective. In guard stance, you can then attack and block freely.

If you can anticipate where opponents will strike (from above, left or right), then you’ll be a pretty good player. I also love how the aesthetics makes it all feel so gritty and real. It’s almost as if you can feel the weight of every attack you throw or block.

But it’s not just the combat mechanic that I’m looking forward to. The game will come fully fleshed with a single player campaign as well. You can play as one of the three factions, the Samurai, the Knights or the Vikings. This is going to be a very robust release and I can’t wait to play it again.
