Having been so caught up in the MMORPG genre, sometimes I find it relaxing to jump into browser strategy games like Throne: Kingdom at War. Over the past month, we’ve been sharing our thoughts and tips for players, like this  beginner guide to Throne: Kingdom at War, which you should check out if you’re new. I wanted to re-visit my Kingdom at figure out if there’s any changes to what I think about the game a year after playing it. So let’s get this party started.

For those who’ve never played it, Throne: Kingdom at War puts you in the shoes of a medieval lord, and as ruler you must build your kingdom, raise armies, defend and attack other players and win the economy to be successful. You can access the game via Plarium’s website or download the app on your phones for both iOS and Android.

And right off the bat, I’m reminded why strategy games appeal to me. For new players, the most important thing about the game is to learn how everything works. You build resource buildings like mines and farms to get specific resources like stone and food for example. And these in return are used to either train soldiers to raise an army or further upgrade existing buildings. That’s the gist of the busy work, and another important concept is the passing of time. Most of what happens in-game requires real time to pass, like upgrading buildings or sending armies out to the world map to fight other player’s kingdoms or dormant camps to bring back resource. That’s a staple for browser strategy games, dating back all the way to Earth 2025, the first game I’ve played in this mold.

Study the map and look for abandoned towns. These are risk-free raids that are worth going for.

Having done this a few times now for Throne: Kingdom at War, my earliest impressions regarding how players start the game is the same. It’s very informative because of the tutorial, but it’s also incredibly tedious. The tutorial holds your hand, perhaps a little too much, in instructing you on what you should do, or what habits you as a new player needs to do. It will walk you through all the main concepts, and the thing I like least is the way it shoehorns you into the microtransactions to speed things up and get boosts to grow things faster.

The middle game is where the fun is at. That’s where you probably have gotten a decent sized army from training troops at your barracks, and are ready to fight on the world map. The last time I did this, I was in an Order/Guild, and that was half the fun right there. You play with other people, so there’s a social aspect to it, but the real fun comes when collectively, everyone is working and co-coordinating attacks and resources to achieve a common goal. It may be time consuming of course, because of traveling does take time, but at that point players are probably already hooked to the game.

There’s still much of Throne: Kingdom at War that I have yet to see and experience, especially the higher tier research functions and more. But my impressions hasn’t really changed all that much. The game still caters to a specific crowd, and those who enjoy a casual browser or mobile game where you can jump in to get some tasks or busy work done, and then go all out on the weekend for an attack, will definitely find some fun here.

So you have been playing Throne: Kingdom at War and are ready to move past the beginner stage into more advance concepts and strategies of the game. What’s great about this strategy game is that there are viable methods to pursue for all play styles now that you are ready to take on the world either alone or in an Order/Clan. If you have not checked out our beginner guide to Throne: Kingdom at War, read that first before advancing your knowledge here! Today, we’re going to be discussing hyper farming in the game.

What Is Hyper Farming?

Hyper Farming is a strategy or method in Throne: Kingdom At War that’s best suited to Order or Clan play. It is all about maximizing the production output and focus on only one particular resource at an advanced rate. For example, Player A within an Order will only focus on Food production, while player B specializes in Wood only. Why is this a thing? From a solo play standpoint, this concept sounds ineffective, but again, in an Order situation, this is great for gathering resources quickly in order to begin and take part in long wars.

How To Start Hyper Farming

Thus, assuming you are part of a brand new Order and want to start Hyper Farming, what are the things you must do? Firstly, ensure that your Order has an Order Bank. This allows everyone in your order to contribute their resources. The next step is to delegate which members produce what exclusively. Assuming you are taking part in Hyper Farming and decide to contribute Food, this is what you need to do.

Firstly, convert ALL your resource buildings in your kingdom into Farms. Yes that sounds hardcore, but it’s important for this concept to work. Once you’ve converted all your resources production buildings into Farms, you are now exclusively producing the Food resource at a heightened rate. While that means you are sacrificing other resource production, that’s what the Order Bank is for, and you’ll still be able to get what you need thanks to the collective hard work of others in the guild.

Optimizing For Hyper Farming

But don’t think the work is done. Starting to Hyper Farm is easy, but if you stop there then you’re not optimizing it properly. Once you’ve converted all your buildings to Farms, the next step is to invest Hero Skill Points into abilities and passives that will maximize your Food yields. To do this, simply go to your Hero Panel and spend your skill points on resource production benefits, depending on what you’re specialized in for Hyper Farming.

This is a very important step that most players overlook, because Heroes are usually saved or used for something else. Unfortunately, you’ll want to sacrifice them and make them a part of the Hyper Farm machine too, if you want to contribute millions of resources for the benefit of your Order.

Bonuses And Boosts

And finally, the last step is to take advantage of item and boosts found within the game to either further increase yields or speed for these resource productions. One great way to do this is again, through your Hero’s weapon. Some weapons may have stats like increased food production for example, that you’ll want to have them equip in order to maximize your Hyper Farming gains. If you have trouble finding these types of weapons, check out the Workshop and other guides on how to obtain them.

And that’s your basic view and introduction into the world of Hyper Farming in Throne: Kingdom at War. Why is this strategy viable? Imagine a large Order where 100’s of players specialize to contribute on resource at a fast rate to the war effort. It only speeds up the growth of not only the Order, but every member within it. The Order can build, survive and sustain prolonged war efforts in the game. So good luck Hyper Farming!

Top 5 Plarium Games Ranked: From Vikings To Throne: Kingdom At War https://mmosworld.com/top-5-plarium-games-ranked-from-vikings-to-throne-kingdom-at-war/ Mon, 12 Mar 2018 00:37:21 +0000 https://mmosworld.com/?p=6432 The post Top 5 Plarium Games Ranked: From Vikings To Throne: Kingdom At War appeared first on Mmos World.

Plarium has a knack for creating some of the most addictive and fun browser strategy PvP games on the market today, be it for hardcore players or social and casual players. From mobile phones, to tablets, browsers and even Facebook, it’s hard to not take notice of a strategy franchise that offers players unique fantasy settings and a great escape for light gaming. As a new player, where do you start and which games are worth looking at from Plarium? Here’s our pick of the top 5, and the very best of Plarium’s catalogue of games.

#5 Pirates: Tide of Fortune

Everyone loves pirates right? In 2012, Plarium released Pirates: Tide of Fortune for web browsers to critical acclaim from the gaming community. Set in a desert island in an era where pirates thrived, the game allowed players to unleash their inner “Yarrr matey”  and build their own pirate bay, ships and fight against each other in sea-based battles. The concept of the game is similar to most other Plarium games in the sense of having to gather resources, research and conquer the map to make it.

The unique difference here is simply aesthetics, and the one game where the naval aspects of the game outshone pretty much everything else. To summarize, Pirates: Tide of Fortune is a slick, polished nautical-themed social game that takes its cues from more complex multiplayer strategy titles, and set the blueprint for future Plarium games to follow.

#4 Total Domination

One of Plarium’s early games, Total Domination predates many of the fantasy settings that make up Plariums current superstar line-up. Set in a sci-fi fantasy with contemprorary units and world, Total Domination for the most part, plays pretty much like the rest. What set the game apart back then, was the questing system that was pretty robust and it complemented the progression mechanics of the game.

Another good thing to come from this early title was the voice acting by some characters and units which was unheard of in similar browser or Facebook games. While there were issues, such as having to play in fullscreen mode to get the best experience or the lack of a social chat system, Plarium has since innovated and returned with improve titles, some of which are below in this list.

#3 Stormfall: Age of War

Back when Facebook was just hitting its stride and taking its place as the stalwart of modern social media platforms, so were the games that were coming out for Facebook users. Among them was Stormfall: Age of War. In 2012, with over 250 million registered players, Plarium introduced the world to Stormfall on Facebook. It’s a high fantasy web browser strategy game that mixes diplomacy with PvP warfare, and now six years later, is considered a classic among Plarium players.

What made Stormfall: Age of War popular back then? It was probably the level of depth and layers of progression that one could achieve by both playing for free or by paying, which understandably, some players take issue with. Moreover, its 2D graphics still holds up today, even when Plarium’s newer titles are more of the 3D and highly animated variety. If you want to experience the birth of one of the best browser strategy games in the modern era of social media, then definitely check out Stormfall: Age of War.

#2 Vikings: War of Clans

Relive the age of Vikings, where plunder, profit and power is the way of life. In Vikings: War of Clans, your task as a Jarl is to strategically raise your village into a Viking empire.Be prepared for the eventuality of war too. Other player’s and their villages are situated nearby to you on the map. War in the form of raids are huge possibility the more you play, so what do you do? That’s where some strategy and planning comes into play.

You have to plan the resource buildings within your kingdom to maximize your armies. Train from several tiers of Viking themed soldiers and units to defend yourself and attack others. You are given a Hero too, who gains levels and uses gear that will help you greatly. But don’t forget your technological research! Strategize which research boons will aid you greatly when just starting out, and that should help you in the late game. Are you up to the task?

#1 Throne: Kingdom at War

Arguably the most popular Plarium game right now has to be Throne: Kingdom at War. As with all the other Plarium games, the setting is a unique take on a period where history meets fantasy which results in a great browser strategy game. The key difference that Throne leverages over the rest is its hugely competitive and enthusiastic player base that’s evident on both the forums and in-game. There’s just a different feel to Throne that is hard to match and must be experienced.

Joining a top Order (guild) is perhaps the best way to experience this, and as usual, everything else is well polished. From the smartly designed tutorial, to the graphics and aestethics – even the music is decent enough to leave on loop if that’s your thing. So how do you want to play? Grow you empire with a multitude of resources, knowledge through research and of course, an army consisting of various units and a hero character. Then, it’s up to you to go conquer or be conquered. Thrones is a well balanced game that will offer you hours of fun all from the comfort of your browser, so yes, you can browse Facebook or YouTube whenever.

Plarium’s browser and mobile strategy game Throne: Kingdom At War is an addictive game. While it may have been out for some time now, the game still attracts plenty of players and the journey to being the top player or top Order is still attractive as ever. But if you’re just starting out, things may be somewhat confusing and overwhelming, which is why we’re putting together a series of guides, tips and tricks for new players. There’s plenty of strategy and depth in the game the longer you spend time within it, so here are some tips!

#1 Follow The Tutorial Through!

Once you’ve created an account and have jumped into the game, the first thing you’ll be doing is the tutorial. While it may be long, draggy and boring, pay attention. The tutorial teaches you the most basic of concepts early on, which is the building upgrading chain. Your town is made up of your palace, and a series of buildings ranging from resources production, military and more. An important concept to know is that to upgrade them to higher levels, they rely on having other related buildings to be upgraded first. For example, to upgrade your Walls to level 2, you need your Palace and Stone Quarry upgraded first. The tutorial teaches you many of these other important concepts therefore it should not be ignored or taken lightly.

#2 Be Careful About Who You Attack

Throne: Kingdom At War in its essence is a PvP game. The end-game is to got to war over other player’s kingdoms, armies and Orders to be the best there is. As a new player, you’re a long ways away from that. Once you get to a point where you’re confident in your army’s strength and town’s defenses you should start sending raiding parties out into neighboring cities to pillage or experience and resources. But who to attack? We’d recommend looking for abandoned towns first. Because it’s a free to play game, there are many players who will try the game and eventually abandon the game, leaving their cities ripe for the raid. Attack those first to gain some knowledge and experience on how the combat works. Be careful not to attack towns with the golden crown, which means the player is active and has a VIP boost active. You may just start a war you may regret.

Study the map and look for abandoned towns. These are risk-free raids that are worth going for.

#3 Join An Order ASAP

Orders are basically guilds in the game. They function as a place to collectively group like-minded players. They are also great for sharing knowledge, resources and strategy in the mid-to-late game where large scale attacks against other players or Orders become the norm. As a new player, you should strive to find an Order that suits you, and learn from the high ranking players. They also can offer you protection in the event you are being attacked. Being in a large Order will deter and future isolated attacks against your kingdom.

#4 Don’t Ignore The Reward Icons

The UI of Thrones may seem hard to navigate at first. Play around with it, and if you followed the tutorial closely, you should be acquainted with it already. The one thing you’ll notice constantly are the icons that continuously pop on screen, which are time-based rewards. Thrones rewards you for spending time playing the game, and you should be picking these up every time they become available. Make it a habit. These rewards range from XP, to several soldiers or units, and later on they become more valuable as it all adds up. Same applies to Tasks and Mission rewards. Do them as much as possible.

#5 Spend Money Only If You Want To

The free nature of the game is enticing to many. There is also the option to buy VIP and other benefits via the in-game cash shop. These offers a wide range of boosts and progression benefits for players that want to support the game. As a new player, you absolutely need to pro and con these benefits. Are you playing for the long term? Will you be playing for many hours a day? A lot of these paid benefits require you to maximize your time in-game to make use of them, so unless you absolutely know what you want to do or have a game-plan, spend money only where necessary.

New Event in Vikings, The Kingdoms Battle: Revenge.

The Kingdoms battle: Revenge is taking off on January 20th in Vikings. Get your troops ready, in this war, only one clan will be champion. Plarium, the developer, claims that the winners will get a 5-day access to certain locations with special resources – a gift from the gods. Players will be able to yield resources way faster and locations will be restored after depletion. Only veteran players are able to participate in the event. Therefore, your account has to be older than 14 days before registering to the battle.

This global competition is one of kind, engaging all players to fight one another. Nevertheless, Plarium has proved time and time again that their games are hardcore. Vikings, their newest launch is more than just a shift in skin. While a lot of strategy game manufacturers put emphasis on single player mode, Plarium are investing in creating a unique multiplayer experience. Expanding the level of communication inside clans to create a special game. The Kingdoms Battle: Revenge is another example for the hard work Plarium puts in creating a wonderful community around a game.
