Major revamps are coming to Black Desert Online this month. If you weren’t happy with the audio and graphics before this – which is highly doubtful – you will be after August 2018. Pearl Abyss are planning a grand remastered event to highlight a new graphical enhancement coming to the game. This includes visuals for models, environment, lighting and even to the game’s audio. The event will be for the first time ever, livestreamed globally for both players and media alike, which you can tune into on August 11th at 15:00 KR. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening this month.

5. New Guild Raid Boss: Ancient Puturum

While Adventurers wait for the big remaster, they will be able to face off against the new Guild Raid Boss “Ancient Puturum” in the Valencia Desert starting this week. This is one big baddie that definitely requires you and your guild to be ready for. Be sure to bring everything – from your fancy clothes to your potions for this fight! For more information about the update and other ongoing events, check out the website.

4. All Game Packages Are On 30% Discounts

To celebrate the spectacular new updates, Pearl Abyss is currently offering a 30% discount on all packages. This is the first time in quite a while that BDO has had a discount or sale for its packages. Black Desert is a buy to play MMORPG which means no further purchase is necessary past the base game cost. Currently, the are four packages available for adventurers ranging from $5 to $30 in price, without the discount factored in. If you’ve been holding off, now’s a great time to get the game. Detailed information about package discounts can be found here.

3. Remastered In-game Celebration Event With Rewards

But wait, that’s not all happening in-game. Pearl Abyss will also be rewarding loyal players with some goodies for Likes on the official Remaster event page. Clicking the Like button will get you a Blessings of Kamasylve (1 Day) per family. This is a handy buff that provides boosts to plenty of things in-game for your character. If the Like button gets hit more times, more rewards will become unlocked. These includes Gold Bars, Lauren Family Gift Boxes and more.

2. Remastered Video and Audio Developer Keynote!

Pearl Abyss will be hosting a live showcase on the 11th of August to highlight the new changes, but you should also be excited about a like keynote. This month will be one of those rare occassions where players and the media get to watch the developers present their case for the new video and audio remasters. Hear what they have to say live and right from your browser without needing a ticket to South Korea.

1. 4K Remastered Graphics Showcase and Audio Concert

Most exciting of all however, is the major changes that will happen in-game to BDO’s graphics. Black Desert Online remains one of the best looking MMORPGs today and Pearl Abyss wants to raise the bar higher. This month, BDO Korea’s livestream reveal of the changes includes a 4K vide demo that will highlight the awesome new crisp, crystal clear graphics. If that wasn’t enough, the composers of the OST will also conduct a special concert that players can tune in to watch right here.

Top 5 Richest E-Sports Teams Of All Time

Since the rise of e-sports in the early 2000s, professional gaming organizations, teams and players were not only getting the fame and recognition for being gaming’s most elite, but they were also making a lot of dough. Back then, earnings usually arrived in the form of sponsorships for professional teams.

Today however, the landscape has evolved and e-sports is now a multi-million dollar industry, with tournaments being held that offered as much as USD 3 million in prize pool money. So which teams have benefited the most? We take a look at the top 5 richest e-sports teams in history.

5. SK Telecom T1

South Korea’s SK Telecom T1 was initially a sports organization that opened it’s e-sports division way back in 2003. The South Korean franchise is famous for putting together a squad of the nation’s best Starcraft players, who now have sealed their legacies as their nation’s greatest ever. The franchise is still active today and has branched out into covering Starcraft 2 as well as League of Legends. In 200 major tournaments, SK Telecom T1 has earned a respectable total of US$6.9 million.

4. Newbee

Newbee is another team hailing from China, but unlike the rest, they were given a good head start thanks to sponsorship by a local billionaire. Founded in 2014, Newbee’s squads hit the record books for earning the most money at a single tournament that year, a total of US$5 million, during The Internationals 2014 for competing in Dota2 and Hearthstone.

With only 76 major tournament participations so far, the future is definitely bright for the Newbee franchise and it’s a scary thought thinking about the amount of money they could make in a couple of years.

3. Fnatic

UK and US based Fnatic is a well known team in the e-sports ring, and for good reason. With over 590 tournaments under their belts, Fnatic has a well recorded history of winning major tournaments, especially with their Counterstrike, Dota 2 and League of Legends teams.

To-date, the group has raked in a total of US$7 million in tournament earnings, which is the third highest in history.

2. Wings Gaming

Founded in 2014 and hailing from China, Wings Gaming are the second richest, despite only being established as a professional team for two years. The group is famous for being one of the best Dota 2 e-sports teams on the planet.

However, they are best known for their haul at the Dota 2’s The International 2016 Tournament, where they famously won over US$9 million, which entered the Guinness World Record books for the most money ever won by gaming sport team. Well done, lads.

1. Evil Geniuses

It comes as no surprise that Evil Geniuses sits at the top of the pile, being one of the oldest and earliest e-sport teams to ever compete. Founded in 1999 and based in San Francisco, California, Evil Geniuses have amassed a total of US$15,237,242.29 in tournament earnings, the highest amount than any other team in history.

Evil Geniuses are no slouches either, being very prolific when it comes to tournament participation. They’ve entered a total of 621 tournaments in their history, and they’re known for their prowess in games like Dota 2, Starcraft 2 and Halo.

Top 5: What Are Blizzard’s Greatest Games Ever?

When it comes to online gaming, Blizzard Entertainment is a household name. Founded in 1991, the studio has sprung up some of the most beloved gaming titles ever. From the Warcraft franchise to Diablo and Overwatch, many gamers have been touched by gaming greatness. However, for newer generation players that may not have heard of the company and its games, you might be wondering: What are Blizzard’s greatest games ever created? Lucky you, we’ve put together a list of our top 5 favorites.

5. Heroes of the Storm

It’s summer 2015 and the world is still addicted to MOBA games. DOTA 2 is still top of the perch alongside League of Legends, and the craze for Battle Royale games didn’t exist. Not wanting to be left out, Blizzard released its own MOBA game Heroes of the Storm but with a twist. The studio doesn’t call it a MOBA, but a Hero Brawler instead. And to their credit, it’s an incredibly unique experience. Players control heroes in teams of 5 against the other team in familiar gameplay, but with fun mechanics. You pick from a roster of 80 heroes and plenty of them come from Blizzard’s other game franchises. So expect to see popular characters from Warcraft, Diablo and more make an appearance and use their famed skills and abilities for combat. If you’re new to MOBA style games, give Heroes of the Storm a shot.

4. Starcraft II

Starcraft and its expansions are already in the gaming hall of fame for being on of the best RTS games of its generation. Deeply strategic and challenging, the game also included a great story with memorable characters. Therefore, when Blizzard announced a sequel, the world of strategy games cheered in unison. We weren’t disappointed. Starcraft II is a sublime game, a modern RTS game that many felt was sorely needed as RTS games had dipped in quantity and quality since the first game was released.

SC II offers the same excellent narrative driven RTS campaigns with better graphics, and its online competitive mode took the world by storm. The game is considered one of the pioneers at the beginning of the rise of e-sport tournaments around the world, and none bigger than in South Korea, where schools and courses on how to win with Starcraft II has been opened in recent times. What’s the fuss all about you wonder? You can play it for free today, so give it a shot if you want a proper real time strategy experience.

3. Diablo 3

The Diablo franchise what wet dreams are to ARPG enthusiasts. If you’re unfamiliar with Diablo, where have you been all these years? Diablo 3 – similar to Starcraft II – was a modern re-imagining of what a beloved franchise title would look like in the modern age. The game features you controlling a hero from an isometric view, clicking to move, attack and collect all that shiny loot that spills onto the ground. It’s so satisfying. As far as hack and slash games go, Diablo 3 is right up there with the very best.

2. Overwatch

Not content with having a game represented in 90% of online gaming genres, Blizzard created Overwatch in 2014 to hit that 100% and finally dominate the shooter market. Overwatch is one of the most watched e-sport games of all time because the game design with its unique characters, abilities, map designs and more are top notch. What’s more impressive is that unlike other games the studio released in the past, this one’s original. There are no crossover characters. But their uniqueness is enough to win players over and buy into the game. The decent amount of game modes and constant stream of updates also makes this purchase well worth the money.

1. World of Warcraft

But in 40 years time, Blizzard will probably be fondly remembered for one game in particular. While all their games have been very popular in the gaming world, they could never truly match the heights of World of Warcraft. This MMORPG began life as a continuation to the world, stories and characters from the RTS game Warcraft 3. But it took on a life of its own for setting the benchmark for MMORPGs.

It introduced and pioneered the theme park experience, where players were on a narrative journey that felt modern, streamlined and accessible even for casual players. And it hasn’t looked back since, releasing expansion after expansion, and it continues to grow the world and tales of Azeroth for the millions of players that still play today. If you love MMORPGs and haven’t played WoW, you owe it to yourself to at least get a character to the level cap.
