Funcom’s Upcoming Dune Open-World Survival Multiplayer Game Welcomes Abstraction as Development Partner

Creative video game development studio Abstraction announced today that it has joined forces with Funcom on the upcoming, open-world survival multiplayer game Dune. Abstraction will offer co-development support on engine level systems, rendering and platform support, as well as on a variety of other gameplay and technological aspects.

While a large portion of the Abstraction team focuses on engine work for optimized performance, various members have integrated into other existing teams working on the project within Funcom to help develop major features in the game. Other specific aspects of work on Dune include AI, audio, animation and physics.

“We thrive on creativity, changing technology and creative problem solving, and Funcom has been fun and collaborative to work with,” said Ralph Egas, Abstraction CEO. ‘”Dune’ represents the kind of epic IP that any developer would love to get their hands on, so we are honored to help Funcom achieve their vision for such a cool project”.

New Multiplayer Survival Game Expedition Agartha Revealed

Wandering Wizard, the indie game publishing label of Snail Games, has announced their new first-person medieval action PvPvE, Expedition Agartha, during PAX West. Developed by Matrioshka Games, the game will be released for Steam Early Access in 2022.

In Expedition Agartha, Explorers and Mercenaries from around the world find themselves on a mysterious island in the Lost Continent of Mu. In the depths of the earth, the Secrets of Agartha wait to be discovered… The game features a hardcore full loot PvP adventure. ATLAS Players Can Now Build Turtle Ships While Spiders Climb Vertically

For this week’s ATLAS update the advanced Shipyard’s inventory is expanding with the addition of the formidable Turtle Ship. This latest buildable warship comes affixed with heavy armored plates, armored canopy railings and adorned with a dragon figurehead which breathes smoke to conceal movement during combat! The Turtle Ship is as slow as its name, but its hard armored shell can withstand heavy combat!

While Spiders have long roamed the ATLAS, today they reach new heights with the ability to now traverse vertical surfaces! These crafty creatures can move fast, jumping higher and further than ever before. Vertical climbing does cost the spider Stamina, when its depleted the web crawler will release and fall.Additional items in this week’s patch include the Mechanic’s Hammer that allows repair and replacement of the Turtle Ship armor and new leafy decor with both Wall and Hanging planters now available.

ATLAS’s Latest Update Fortifies Sea Forts With Global Buff Towers

For this week’s ATLAS update the Grapeshot team delivers major changes to Sea Forts, providing three different options to buff your fleet! Three new towers – the Atlantean Spire, the Industrial Generator and the Army of the Damned Pylon – are available for construction on the Sea Fort islands, with each providing a different buff for ships on the same server.

What’s more, these towers offer a variety of buffs, like a speed buff . The Atlantean Spire gives you a little extra wind in your sails, providing a Buff of Sailing Speed +15%. Defenses need a boost? Try the Industrial Generator to fortify your fleet providing Buff of Ship Damage Resistance +15%.

The Army of the Damned Pylon will add more firepower to your arsenal providing Buff of Ship Damage Boost +15%.

The towers can be learned by training in Advanced Automation, are built at the Smithy and are powered with coal as fuel. Only one tower can be built per Sea Fort island.

Fractured Veil: Brand New Survival Game In Mutant-Infested Hawaii To Launch Early Next Year

Fractured Veil, the survival game set in a future Hawaii ravaged by time, technology, and mutants from Paddle Creek Games, embraces the apocalypse with an Aloha state of mind on PC via Steam Early Access in Q2 2022.

One hundred years after a teleportation system fractured reality and caused a global apocalypse, Maui’s not much of a tourist destination anymore. Horrific mutants roam the Valley Isle’s breathtaking beaches and tropical forests. The only non-mutated humans on the deserted island awaken in a facility created by a shadowy tech company. The good news: each time they die, they resurrect as a new clone. The bad news: being killed by mutants still hurts!

Make the most out of life in a fallen paradise alongside hundreds of other cloned survivors. Scour the dense 64 square kilometer map for valuable crafting resources, potential allies, and loot-filled dungeons full of useful items and challenging foes.

Lay down roots by creating a base with an intuitive building interface for much-needed shelter from the elements, mutants, and less-than-friendly fellow clones. Claim land by building upgradeable totems capable of protecting structures and hard-earned loot while offline. In Fractured Veil, fun comes first. Forget turning off the game then coming back later only to find hours of work stolen or destroyed.

Forge alliances with fellow tropical wastelanders and venture into NPC-controlled safe zones to take on quests and trade with vendors. Complete multi-step quests to learn more about the local culture and strange circumstances that led to civilization’s downfall alone or with allies. Earn experience to unlock talents that increase stamina, health, and crafting abilities that might just make surviving another night a possibility.

Those tempted to make other survivors’ lives hell should note: someone’s always watching. Tune in to catch up on events happening around the in-game multiverse, like deadly dungeon runs with top streamers or all-out wars between clone groups. Then hop into a veil and travel to another reality to experience life on a different server, complete with different loot.
