Days of Wonder is excited to announce their first collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment by introducing Small World® of Warcraft®, a new board game combining the Small World® game mechanics with Blizzard’s celebrated Warcraft® universe.

Previewed at BlizzCon® 2019, Small World of Warcraft is set on the fantasy world of Azeroth, where the races of the Alliance and the Horde—including Orcs, Dwarves, Trolls, and Worgen—clash in a world-consuming conflict.

In Small World of Warcraft, players choose combinations of special powers and races from the Warcraft universe, such as Portal Mage Pandarens or Herbalist Goblins, and vie for control of Azeroth. To help them achieve dominance, players will occupy legendary terrains and seek control of powerful artifacts. However, all empires must eventually fall, so players will need to be ready to put an overextended race into a state of “decline” and lead a new one to rule Azeroth.

Days of Wonder worked closely with Blizzard to create a game that seamlessly brings together both universes. Small World of Warcraft features a variety of new and exclusive artwork that captures the feel of the colorful and vibrant Warcraft universe, with races and special powers designed to be familiar to the millions of WoW® players around the world who’ve explored the far reaches of Azeroth.

“Working alongside Blizzard has been an amazing experience. Not only did our vision for the game quickly align, but the creative work we’ve done together has been intense and extremely satisfying,” said Adrien Martinot, head of Days of Wonder. “Blizzard allowed us to deep dive into their rich Warcraft universe, and I’m eager to see this incredible cooperation come to light when the game releases.”

Small World of Warcraft is a standalone game designed for 2 to 5 players and can be completed in 40 to 80 minutes. It includes 6 double-sided boards, 16 Warcraft Race banners, 182 Matching Race tokens and 15 Murloc tokens, 20 Unique Special Power badges, 5 Player Summary Sheets, 12 Artifact and Legendary place markers, 10 Mountains, 9 Wisp Walls, 4 Harmony tokens, 12 Bombs, 1 Champion, 10 Forts, 2 Military Objectives, 5 Beasts, 6 Watch Towers, 110 Victory coins, 1 Custom Reinforcement die, 1 Game turn track, 1 Game turn marker, 1 rulebook and 1 Team Variant Rules sheet. Small World of Warcraft is expected to be available in Summer 2020 in North America and Europe at a suggested retail price of $59.99/€59.99/£56.99 and will be available in the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Slovak, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

The popular tabletop strategy game series Warhammer Underworlds explodes into the digital online arena. Steel Sky Productions and Games Workshop today announced that Warhammer Underworlds: Online has fully released out of Early Access for PC and is now available to purchase from Steam.

Warhammer Underworlds: Online is a high-stakes, turn-based strategy combat game that pits mighty warbands from the Age of Sigmar universe against one another in an eternal player versus player battle for Glory. Players choose a Warband suiting their chosen playstyle and build a card deck. Their goal is then to win by scoring the most Glory Points, using dice-and-card mechanics that offer boundless strategic depth.

“The development team have been knocking it out of the park with this release,” said Creative Director, Neil Rennison. “After a number of months in Early Access with valuable player feedback, we now have an amazing multiplier game, with not just four warbands as we originally promised, but with six warbands as part of the base game, including fan-favourites, Skaven!”

On top of the six warbands with their respective card decks, Warhammer Underworlds: Online also includes over forty new universal cards that have been introduced during the course of Early Access, which sit alongside the ones that were originally released. It is the aim of the developers to continue releasing new universal card packs for free across the lifetime of the game, which allows players to update and diversify their decks, ready for competitive ranked play against random online players or Steam friends.

Neil Rennison follows up: “We want players to try out all the warbands, so we’ve added a Warband-specific progression system that allows players to unlock awesome new fighter skins, titles and deck portraits. The more players increase their ranking, the more they can unlock.”

Warhammer Underworlds, Games Workshop’s ‘Ultimate Competitive Miniatures Game’ has been growing in popularity since its launch in October 2017. The tabletop franchise has released three major instalment boxed sets (ShadespireNightvault and Beastgrave) along with more than twenty Warband expansion packs so far, and with a thriving community and tournament scene, the game is growing to strength to strength. The game’s deckbuilding elements enable a high level of strategy, while its short game time makes it a great option for fans of both miniatures wargaming and board games.

Warhammer Underworlds: Online is a premium PC title, costing $29.99 USD and is available to play in English, Russian, French, Italian, German and Spanish. New content will be distributed in two ways:

  • All players will receive continuous, FREE universal card releases at regular intervals.

  • New Warband DLC expansions along with their Warband-specific cards will be available in the coming months for $6.99 USD.

  • Future game updates will incorporate rules changes, new board layouts and visual changes to match newly introduced warbands from Nightvault and Beastgrave.

The PC adaptation of the popular RPG board game Gloomhaven will be entering Steam Early Access on July 17th. The game will cost $24.99 during the Early Access period.

The Gameplay Trailer showcases the main mechanics at work during combat and exploration, being an introduction to Gloomhaven’s unique, deep and rich dungeon-crawling experience. This gives players a first taste of the digital exclusive Adventure mode based on roguelike mechanics.

As a board game, Gloomhaven has raised $4.4 million on Kickstarter thanks to more than 45,000 backers. Designed by Isaac Childres, the Gloomhaven board game has been acclaimed by both players and critics alike, achieving the highest rating on BoardGameGeek and winning 6 Golden Geek awards, including “Board Game of the Year” in 2017.

The digital adaptation, developed by Flaming Fowl Studios, allows players to play as a squad of two to four mercenaries, in a world of darkness and trials. Its legendary unforgiving difficulty rewards only the sharpest strategic minds. Bringing the lore, game mechanics and identity of the beloved board game into the digital era, Gloomhavenwill leverage all the benefits of the PC platform.

At the start of the Early Access, players will be able to experience a new exclusive Adventure Mode based on roguelike mechanics, combining both combat and exploration. Four characters will be available at the start. The roster of characters, enemies and bosses, each including their own abilities, will be expanded on a regular basis during Early Access, along with additional environments, quests, items and more.

Players will be able to experience the unforgiving world of Gloomhaven through different difficulty levels, delivering an optimal experience for Gloomhaven’s beginners while allowing experts to use the original board game settings. The full Campaign from the original board game, along with the multiplayer Coop mode, will be available when the full game is launched.

During Early Access the price of the game won’t increase while additional content is being added during its development.  Players who purchased the game during Early Access will not be charged extra at full release, when the game will be priced slightly higher, thus being rewarded for joining Gloomhaven earlier and contributing to the game’s success.
