Rainbow Six Extraction is now available with full cross-play, cross-save, and cross-progression on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Stadia, Amazon Luna, the Ubisoft Store, Windows PC, and the Epic Games Store. The game will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass, and players can also subscribe to Ubisoft+ on PC, Stadia and Amazon Luna.*

With development led by Ubisoft Montreal and supported by associate Ubisoft studios in Bucharest, Bordeaux, and Saguenay, Rainbow Six Extraction is a tactical online co-op PVE experience for up to three players, featuring beloved Operators from the Rainbow Six universe hand-selected to engage, contain, and eliminate a lethal, mutating alien threat.

Both Rainbow Six Siege players and those looking for a new PVE co-op game will be challenged by an unknown alien threat, known as the Archæans, in Rainbow Six Extraction. Set in four regions across the U.S., containment zones are dominated by the alien parasite, creating an evolving and unstable ecosystem within their walls.

Choose from 18 Rainbow Six operators, each equipped with specialized REACT gear, weapons, gadgets, and abilities to learn and master. With each incursion, every squad will face the difficult choice of pushing deeper for greater rewards or extracting – failing to extract means their Operator goes MIA, making them temporarily unavailable. Prepare to launch into thrilling and challenging high-stakes missions and risk it all.

The Standard Edition is available now for £33.99 on PC and £44.99 on console, which includes free post-launch content, a deep gear and ability progression system, four adjustable difficulty levels, over 90 weapons and gadgets, 12 dynamic maps, 13 mission types, unpredictable enemy mutations, and more.  More content awaits players in Rainbow Six Extraction, with a sizeable amount of free and game-changing post-launch content coming alongside an evolving endgame available at launch. The Deluxe Edition, which includes everything from the Standard Edition alongside three bonus packs, is available for £41.99 on PC and £49.99 on console.

To ensure a smooth rollout for all players, Rainbow Six Extraction’s Buddy Pass program will be held until shortly after launch, giving game owners the opportunity to invite two friends to play online co-op with them from any platform for up to 14 days, even if they don’t own the game.

Rainbow Six Extraction is available now via Game Pass on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Windows PC, as well as on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Stadia, Amazon Luna, Ubisoft+, the Ubisoft Store, and the Epic Games Store.

Developer Planetarium is delighted to announce today that its blockchain-based MMO Nine Chronicles will be launching on Steam later this year. Additionally, Planetarium has made the game completely open source and is encouraging developers to get creative with their tools.

Nine Chronicles is a free-to-play RPG set in a vast fantasy world – ruled over by its players, and supported by an economy where supply and demand are the greatest currency. The game is powered by groundbreaking technology that gives players the freedom to play how they want: exploring, crafting, mining or governing in a uniquely moddable, open-source adventure.

Conquer dangerous dungeons to gather rare resources for trade; specialize in crafting the finest equipment; or pass legislation with the support of other players to inhabit this realm as you see fit.

In 2020, during development of Nine Chronicles, Planetarium partnered with Ubisoft and Hashed to form a partnership focused on developing blockchain-based games where there is no central server, which allows players have full control of the world.

Now completely open-source, players and developers alike can use any part of the game, from the beautiful bespoke 2D assets to in-game logic and code, for whatever they like. Be it an extension of Nine Chronicles or something completely new and innovative, Planetarium is encouraging users to delve into the game’s inner workings and get creative.

To support this goal, Planetarium is offering grants to developers who will use their open source toolkit to build content and helpful tools for the community.

“From the very beginning, we’ve always wanted to offer gaming communities a chance to own their online games” said Kijun Seo, CEO of Planetarium. “We’re excited to keep our promise by fully open sourcing Nine Chronicles, and offering grants for talented developers. We can’t wait to support amazing projects from our community — please check out Nine Chronicles in early access by visiting our website, and join our community of developers on Discord.”

Nine Chronicles is currently available to play via nine-chronicles.com, and a Steam launch is planned for later in the year.

Ubisoft Acquires Growtopia

If you haven’t heard about Growtopia than you will soon. Because gaming powerhouse Ubisoft acquires Growtopia. Growtopia is a sandbox MMORPG from the house of two indie developers, Mike Hommel and Seth Robinson. There are 20 million registered users in Growtopia who have built already 500 million worlds. The concept of Growtopia is that every user can create worlds and other players can visit and interact between worlds. The free-to-play game came to life in 2013 and draw a big success compared to other indie titles. The game is available via all platforms: desktop, mobile and tablet.

Ubisoft are a true gaming powerhouse with titles such as: Assasins Creed, Rayman, Far cry and much more. It will be interesting to see how Growtopia will fit into the current portfolio of their games. However, the acquisition makes a lot of sense. Ubisoft  have yet to crack the formula for mobile games. There are several spinoffs for some of their popular console games but they aren’t as successful as their origin. Going mobile is one of the premier trends of 2017, with a lot of developer opting to go mobile in order to enlarge their player base. With 20 million users, Ubisoft can certainly enrich their player base and increase their value.

Ubisoft haven’t disclosed the details of the sale but the changing of hands will happen probably in Q4 of the fiscal year. I’m excited about the transition since a lot of money can benefit Growtopia. Ubisoft have proved time and time again how good they are in creating games. Therefore, the new owner knows what he does and he can improve the game to a new level. What do you think? Do you think that ubisoft will improve Growtopia or make it worse? What are your impressions from growtopia? please share your thoughts with us

3 Million Players Are Testing For Honor In Open Beta

Ubisoft’s latest triple A title For Honor is currently in open beta where 3 million players are reportedly playing the game.

The open beta is incredibly successful so far and appears to be attracting large amounts of players. For Honor is multiplatform, so this includes PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. In a tweet, Ubisoft released the numbers to the public.

For Honor will release on Valentines Day, 14th of February and there is great hype already surrounding the game. This is the first time that Ubisoft has deviated away from the open world and sandbox titles they are known for. Games like Assassin’s Creed, Watchdogs and Far Cry are all Ubisoft staples, so it will be interesting to see how For Honor will fare.

In my dabbling with the game, I think it’s definitely going to be a hit with players. Especially for those who enjoy the romance and glory of melee combat. The game’s combat system is a mixture of groundbreaking mechanics.

There are multiple match modes to participate in large 4V4V4 team fights, or smaller brawls. Players must get into ‘guard’ stance by clicking the Control key in order to be effective. In guard stance, you can then attack and block freely.

If you can anticipate where opponents will strike (from above, left or right), then you’ll be a pretty good player. I also love how the aesthetics makes it all feel so gritty and real. It’s almost as if you can feel the weight of every attack you throw or block.

But it’s not just the combat mechanic that I’m looking forward to. The game will come fully fleshed with a single player campaign as well. You can play as one of the three factions, the Samurai, the Knights or the Vikings. This is going to be a very robust release and I can’t wait to play it again.
