Final Fantasy XIV Game Director YoshiP Seeks To Address Stormblood Server Stress Issues

The latest Final Fantasy XIV expansion Stormblood went live this past week. For the most part the launch was a success. Unfortunately, a couple of issues have begun to emerge on the North American servers. Launch issues are expected for any new content launch.

These problems range from overloaded instanced battle content and crashes on Duty servers. Game Director YoshiP has taken to the forums to address these issues and let the players know that they are aware of the issues. A fix is also in the works.

Both issues are stemming from high stress load and congestion. For the first issue of overloaded battle instances, 20,000 playable slots have been added to players each hour. This allows a lot more players to enter these instances which will help even out the amount of players queuing every hour.

The second solution for the continuous Duty server crashes is a little more complex. Players are seeing new 90006 and 90002 errors and the team are getting to the root cause. Therefore, a temporary fix is in place, thanks to a new work flow which restores the worlds every 15-30 minutes if servers crash.

In the meantime, you can keep track of all the progress on these issues on the official FFXIV forum here.
