Lord of the Rings Online Will Release Update 23: The Lonely Mountain This Year
Developers Standing Stone Games has released a producer’s letter for The Lord of the Rings Online. One of the main things the team is working on is the release of Update 23. The new update will move the main story along from Northern Mirkwood into the Dwarven kingdom of Erebor. Players will also get a chance to venture further into the Iron Hills, stronghold of Dain Ironfoot. There will be around 80 landscape quests to complete, as players will very much need the XP to hit the new level cap of 120.
Update 23’s release will be around summer or shortly after, and a new instance cluster will also be making its way into the game. For end-game raiders, there’s a new raid too but that will be coming at a much later date. The Black Book of Mordor that began in the last expansion will also continue, but players wanting to check out Minas Morgul and Shelob will have to wait until 2019.
The letter also details what’s coming in this year’s summer festival. For the first time ever, Seasonal Instances will be making a debut. These are instances and dungeons that only appear during a festival season. For the Summer Festival 2018, players will get to experience the Thrang 6-man dungeon that will scale up for fellowship sizes and even for solo players.
