Ubisoft has announced that October 15th will be the release date for its latest content update for the live open-world game Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. In addition, Players who have not yet had a chance to play The Division 2 will have the opportunity to try the game for free. Title Update 6 highlights The Division 2’s biggest title update to date for players, featuring “Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle”, a variety of game improvements and a new Conflict PvP mode. Episode 2 is available for Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers on October 15th (October 22nd for all players). All changes and improvements, as well as the new mode, are available for all players on October 15th. So here’s a quick preview of all the new features coming to Division 2 this month.

Two New Main Missions

At the beginning of Episode 2, players will investigate a transmission from a fellow Agent scouting the Pentagon for the perfusion bioreactor. Securing the bioreactor would allow Agents to replicate the antiviral samples recovered at Tidal Basin. Agents must navigate flood damage and Black Tusk forces to take back The Last Castle. After securing their safe house, players will be able to access the two replayable main missions of Episode 2.

  • First Main Mission – Pentagon: Agents will discover the location of the perfusion bioreactor inside the Pentagon’s underground research facility. The Black Tusk have already infiltrated the lab and are attempting to extract the reactor.
  • Second Main Mission – DARPA Research Labs: Players must make their way through the Pentagon and into the DARPA Labs, as the Black Tusk are in the process of transporting the perfusion bioreactor through an abandoned Cold War tunnel network.

The Technician Specialization

From October 15th, Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers will instantly unlock the Technician Specialisation. Players who do not own the Year 1 Pass can unlock the specialisation by completing a series of objectives. Additional rewards, including a signature weapon skin, are also available once the specialisation is unlocked. The latest specialisation includes:

  • Signature Weapon: P-017 Launcher – a multi-missile launcher. Agents can lock-on and hit up to six enemies (depending on available ammo). With a simple push of a button, six missiles are unleashed to seek out their targets.
  • Sidearm: Maxim 9
  • Skill Variant: Artificer Hive
  • Grenade Mod: EMP Grenade

Brand New Classified Assignments

If you’ve played Episode 1, then you should be familiar with Classified Assignments. Agents can take on two new Classified Assignments at a Boathouse and Embassy.

  • Marina: Outcasts have been moving weapons and supplies into a boathouse on the Potomac River, which was used as a transport depot during the outbreak to move assets to the Potomac Center and Roosevelt Island. Agents must investigate and seize all the weapons they can find.
  • Embassy: A Joint Task Force helicopter filled with supplies was shot down by the Outcasts and crashed through the roof of the Mexican Embassy in America’s capital. Agents will be tasked to locate the helicopter rescue the pilot and secure the supplies before the Outcasts get there.

The Division 2’s “Tidal Basin”, the first post-launch update for Tom Clancy’s The Division® 2 which is available right now on the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC. “Tidal Basin” is part of Invasion: Battle for D.C.”, the first free post-launch update that includes upcoming releases of “Operation Dark Hours”, the first 8-player raid in the history of The Division, and a brand new Specialisation.

As part of the endgame and post-launch first philosophy of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, ”Invasion: Battle for D.C.” brings new challenges and content:

  • Players face a new challenge in encountering Tidal Basin, a new stronghold held by the Black Tusk Faction. Tidal Basin is now home to some of the most powerful enemies in the game, and they’re not going down without a fight.
  • After completing the Tidal Basin Stronghold, players will be able to advance to World Tier 5 and unlock the possibility to obtain gear scores 450-500.
  • “Invasion: Battle for D.C.” introduces a new Heroic difficulty setting making for some of the most challenging gameplay yet.
  • Upon reaching World Tier 5, weekly invasions will be introduced with the Black Tusk taking control over selected main missions and strongholds in the city. These activities are harder to complete but more rewarding in loot and gear.
  • Players can now enjoy two new exotic weapons, Pestilence and Nemesis as well as three new gear sets: True Patriot, Hardwired and Ongoing Directive.
  • As part of the update, all players will also have access a new PVP map called Fort McNair
  • The Invasion Apparel Event, which will allow agents to collect outfits inspired by the enemy factions, as well as new masks and weapon skins.
  • Operation Dark Hours is the toughest of all challenges: an 8- player raid that will test the teamwork of the most experienced agents, coming April 25th.
  • Coming in a future update, Agents will have the chance to unlock a brand new Specialisation.

Led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with seven other studios around the world, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is the next evolution in the open-world online shooter RPG genre that the first game helped establish. Set seven months after a deadly virus was released in New York City, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will bring players into a fractured and collapsing Washington D.C. The world is on the brink, its people living through the biggest crisis ever faced in human history. As veteran Division agents, players are the last hope against the complete fall of society as enemy factions vie for control of the city. If Washington D.C. is lost, the entire nation falls. That’s the premise you’ll keep in mind while jumping in to the open beta this weekend, running until the 4th of March. Here are some reasons why you shouldn’t miss it.

Free With Rewards For Participating

You’ll pay nothing to jump into the open beta. All you need to do is have a Ubisoft account, download Uplay and start The Division 2’s open beta. Additionally, just like the private beta players will also get rewards for doing so. You’ll be able to create an agent and level them to level 8 in this open beta. Doing so and completing the Invaded Mission will unlock three Specializations for your class. It will also reward you with the DC Patriot Weapon Skin and the Capitol Hill Arm Patch. Additionally, completing the Dark Zone intro mission also grants you a cool Supply Crate Backpack Trophy. Photos of these rewards below.

All New Content

For those that did not play the private beta, Division 2 will still be familiar if you’ve played the first game. In this open beta, you’ll have access to 3 main missions, 5 side missions, the Dark Zone and an end game mission. That’s not all, as there’s also an exclusive mission that wasn’t available in the private beta. Moreover, PvP players can dabble in the 4v4 Skirmish Mode via the in-game matchmaking if they want to. Finally, just roaming around the open world will yield content too. Once in a while there will be enemy check points and strongholds that you can liberate.

End Game Specializations

One thing you should be looking forward to is taking Division 2’s end-game builds called Specializations, for a spin. During the Demo, you’ll have access to three of them. They are the Survivalist, Demolitionist and Sharpshooter. Upon reaching level 30, Division Agents will be able to activate one of several specializations. Each one unlocks a unique signature weapon and additional skills that offer new ways to play.  Survivalists can control their surroundings using traps and status effects. They are equipped with a precision crossbow as their signature weapon to take their targets down, even in the harshest of environments. Demolitionists are agents of chaos, focusing on disrupting enemy plans and entrenched positions using a grenade launcher as their signature weapon. Sharpshooters are Agents looking at taking their targets out, without them ever realizing what hit them. Sharpshooters can change the tide of a battle from afar using a powerful sniper rifle as their signature weapon.

A Totally Different Dark Zone

Dark Zone East—available on the right side of D.C., players utilize long sightlines in over-grown governmental parks. You will acquire the DZ East introduction mission from Senait Ezera—the new Dark Zone NPC in the Base of Operations—after completing Jefferson Trade Center. Completing this intro-mission unlocks full access to the Dark Zone. Division 2 has changed multiple things about Dark Zones, like normalization, matchmaking, adding check points and more. Be sure to check out this detailed feature to learn about the all new Dark Zone.
