World of Tanks Collaborates With Swedish Metal Band Sabaton For an Epic Music Video, Tank and More

Get ready to headbang with the latest collaboration between Swedish metallers, Sabaton, and World of Tanks. The two facets of heavy metal are about to really put on a show. Kicking off in full force with the ‘Steel Commanders’ music video that is an essential addition to every tanker’s battle music playlist, the band will also be staging a massive in-game event that will reward tankers with a little bit of history: the first-ever Tier IX Premium tank!

“It’s been a great experience working with the World of Tanks and Wargaming guys on this huge project. Together, we made an epic music video for ‘Steel Commanders’ and it’s the perfect way to kick off our massive collaboration,” states Joakim Brodén, lead vocalist of Sabaton. “We’re proud to be part of this brand new in-game event that features the first-ever Tier IX Premium tank as the ultimate prize, as well as us as crew members!”

Apart from the music video, also starring the GRAMMY Award-nominated virtuoso cellist Tina Guo, Sabaton are headlining a new in-game event: Spirit of War. The event will see tankers take on challenges to reap the utmost reward: the game’s first-ever Tier IX Premium tank, the Strv K. Eagle-eyed viewers will have noticed it in the ‘Steel Commanders’ video, and it will be manned by a Sabaton crew that includes Brodén, who recorded a custom voiceover that’s full of Easter eggs for fans to discover. Once tankers earn their Strv K, they will be tasked with getting the exclusive ‘Spirit of War’ 3D style.

“We’ve really enjoyed working with the Sabaton guys and we’re happy to have them onboard this project,” states Max Chuvalov, Publishing Director, World of Tanks. “Our players love their music, and we complement each other as we are both fascinated with military history. Plus, we hope the new tune will inspire tankers to go that extra mile for the victory.”

Even if players ultimately do not finish the marathon, they will earn plenty of goodies along the way and each stage they clear will allow them a set 10% discount on purchasing the Strv K, and the same is true for the 3D style. The Strv K also features its own Sabaton soundtrack and will allow you to earn bonds in Random Battles, so it’s a vehicle no tanker will want to miss out on, if not for owning a piece of World of Tanks history. The Spirit of War event will run from August 27 through September 6.

World of Tanks: Everything You Need To Know About Update 1.13’s Big Artillery Changes

One of the biggest updates in recent history has arrived in World of Tanks. Update 1.13 sees major reworking of core mechanics, such as HE shells and SPG (self-propelled gun) countermeasures, as well as other changes and additions, such as a brand-new mode, the eagerly anticipated Season 5 of Battle Pass and interface improvements.

The heaviest change that players will notice is the new capabilities they now have to combat those vehicles that rain shells from the sky. SPGs have changed a great deal since their inception in World of Tanks, and it became clear more artillery countermeasures were needed to level the playing field somewhat. With the latest update, tankers will now have 3 tactical features at their disposal: Sound Detection is a new Commander-only perk which will warn those in the danger zone that an artillery shell is incoming through a special indicator, brighter shell tracers will allow players to better gauge from where an SPG has fired and the field of fire markers will let tankers know where an SPG recently fired (this marker will appear on the minimap for 10 seconds).

However, SPGs aren’t missing out on the fun either. Artillery now have three available shell types, all with their own purpose in battle, trajectory and velocity, granting a greater variety of tactical opportunities to arty players. Two of these shell types will not stun vehicles, which will greatly reduce the overall stun time seen in battle. Additionally, the SPG ammo interface has been updated and the Intuition perk has been reworked, meaning quicker changes of shells for all vehicle types.

Update 1.13 also sees the introduction of the reworked HE (high-explosive) shell mechanics on the main server. Now, HE shells will deal damage at the point of impact, meaning that damage will be calculated at the point of contact with the armor, unlike before which was based on a shell-burst sphere. Those playing heavily armored vehicles will certainly appreciate this change, as HE shells will inflict less damage to their frontal armor from now on. Additionally, they will also now be able to penetrate screens, tracks and the wheels of wheeled vehicles as well as insignificant and/or destructible objects, like fences, for example.

And there’s still more coming with Update 1.13. A brand-new game mode, Recon Mission, will allow tankers to test maps that are in the later stages of development, a collection of Premium vehicles and Clan Wars reward tanks are being rebalanced (as well as the Minsk map), Season 5 of Battle Pass is ready to challenge players, and a selection of interface improvements have been introduced.

World of Tanks Is Now On Steam: Get The Details Here

Wargaming has announced that its flagship title World of Tanks has rolled onto Steam. From today, players of the regular PC version and Steam users will be able to fight side by side in the immersive PvP battles the legendary F2P strategic shooter is known for. The Steam version is available to new accounts only but will feature everything World of Tanks PC has to offer.

World of Tanks has thrilled millions of players around the world, introducing unique armoured warfare across dozens of detailed maps – releasing thousands of features, unleashing hundreds of events, whilst launching 11 nations and 600 vehicles.

Players will have the opportunity to experience realistic graphics and sound created to replicate the gritty atmosphere of tank warfare, get to master five different vehicle types to encourage balanced and exciting gameplay, explore unique maps based on battlefields and cities from across the world and perfect their skills in different game modes that will challenge their teamwork or individual tactics.

World of Tanks Gets G.I. JOE Collaboration, New Battle Pass and the return of Steel Hunter This Month

Icons for many decades, G.I. JOE and the villainous forces of Cobra are making their way into World of Tanks to do battle! From today, tankers will be able to get their hands on two extra special 3D styles: one for the TS-5 (G.I. JOE Team) and one for the T-54 first prototype (Cobra). Alongside these unique 3D styles, players will also get legendary decals featuring the G.I. JOE M.O.B.A.T. and the Cobra H.I.S.S., both iconic to kids around the world.

But there’s more. Players will be able to take on a special set of missions to earn unique emblems and inscriptions, as well as Personal Reserves. For pledging allegiance to the good guys, tankers will get the famous G.I. JOE logo as an inscription for their vehicles, whereas those who side with the evil forces will get Cobra emblems. These missions will run from today until March 26^th.

Additionally, starting March 15^th, a new Battle Pass season will be starting in World of Tanks. The fourth season will run until June 15^th and features some key differences when compared to previous iterations. Season 4 will be made up of 3 chapters, each with 50 stages, and the main reward of each chapter will be a collectable 3D style for the Object 705A, the T110E3 and the 121 medium tank, respectively. Also, unlike previous seasons, tankers will be able to earn Battle Pass points in Random Battles, Ranked Battles and Steel Hunter, as well as through Daily Missions. There’s plenty more to be discovered, but World of Tanks is keeping some secrets up their sleeves for now.

At the same time, Steel Hunter 2021 will also be kicking off, running until March 21^st. For the first time, Steel Hunter won’t have its own progression. Instead, players will receive Battle Pass points, which will be based on a tanker’s battle results and for completing battle missions within Steel Hunter. Tankers will be able to see just how many points they reaped in the Battle Results screen.

Take on the Lunar Challenge in World of Tanks and World of Tanks Blitz

With the Lunar New Year celebrations kicking off as we welcome the Year of the Ox later this week, both World of Tanks and World of Tanks Blitz are unleashing two unique themed events to mark the occasion.

World of Tanks PC is introducing the Lunar Challenge, which will run from February 12^th through 22^nd. This special event will see tankers test their skills with 10 stages which offer up great rewards. There will be two ways to complete each stage: missions for commitment (available for Tier VI-X vehicles) and the more challenging missions for mastery (exclusively for Tier IX-X).

For completing all 10 stages, players will get their hands on the tanking embodiment of the Ox, the brand-new 122 TM, as well as a unique Lunar New Year 2D style, which can adorn any vehicle. Additionally, tankers who have already got their hands on the 122 MT can take on daily missions; those who complete 8 of them will be rewarded with a stunning 3D style exclusively for the Chinese medium. World of Tanks Blitz is also getting in on the action with a special event that will run from February 10^th through 19^th. Lunar Rising is made up of 9 stages and players will need to win just once a day to get all the rewards, including collectible Lunar New Year items like the Red Lantern, Red Envelope, Mystic Knot and Lunar Ox. As well as all these items, players will be able to get their hands on a never-before-seen camo: Unexpectable. How unexpected!

Additionally, the Lunar New Year-themed Operation Lichun will be available in World of Tanks Blitz throughout February. Players will be able to get their hands on valuable in-game rewards, including a collection of special camos; those who take the Premium Pass route will get even more rewards and the Ox, a brand-new Tier VI Chinese medium tank. World of Tanks Introduces Update 1.11.1, First Of 2021

The beginning of a new year is the right time to start a new journey with fresh content and features deploying in World of Tanks. Update 1.11.1 brings a new sub-branch of Italian heavy tanks with an improved autoreloading mechanic to the game. The updated Platoon system will allow you to find gaming buddies easier (without being limited to friends and contacts), and a few interface improvements make the gameplay even more enjoyable.

The new Italian heavy branch begins with the Tier VII Carro d’assalto P.88 and consists of four vehicles with great gun depression angles, well-armored turrets, and stylish exteriors. The top animal in the pack, the Tier X Rinoceronte (‘Rhinoceros’), reminds us that Italy is famous for its automotive design traditions. A distinctive feature introduced with the new sub-branch is the improved autoreloading mechanic. As well as being able to choose between firing intermittent shots or salvos, with Tier VIII–X Italian heavies you get a rebate (up to 50%) for the reloading time of your next shell—if you had to shoot just before an extra round would be fully loaded into the clip.

Along with the new branch, four sets of battle missions are being introduced, each one dedicated to a separate tank in the sub-branch and giving out an Ancient Roman-themed emblem, inscription, and decal as rewards, with the Rinoceronte set also yielding the “Testudo Formation” 2D style. The style fits Italian vehicles only, and all other customization elements can be applied to any vehicle. Each mission set is to be completed by its ‘own’ new Italian heavy, but all of them are also doable in the Rinoceronte or in the Tier VIII Premium tank, the Bisonte C45.

“Around 3 years ago, in May 2018, we revealed the Italian tech tree, with Gianluigi Buffon as an ambassador,” says Max Chuvalov, World of Tanks Publishing Director. “The players spent some time mastering the new mechanic, and they really liked the Italian tanks. Now we’re adding new researchable vehicles that not only complement the Italian tree, but bring their own distinctive features, in order to make the experience even more diverse and exciting. Take these awesome machines for a spin and enjoy the highly-tactical gameplay!”

Also coming with Update 1.11.1 is the Platoon 2.0 system. Available for Random Battles, it allows you to find battle buddies with ease: it’s fully automated, and the search can be performed using filters you apply. Moreover, you can team up with a friend the old-fashioned way and find a third partner using the new system if you want, and once the Platoon is complete, you’ll see the allied vehicles side by side with your current ride in your Garage.

The interface improvements that will arrive along with the update continue the tradition of integrating the best solutions from popular UI mods into the client. In the game settings, you can now activate such options as the Proximity spotting circle (showing the radius of ‘unconditional’ spotting on the mini-map) and a repair timer for damaged vehicle modules.

World of Tanks Console Is Giving A Free Tank Away For the Holidays

If you play World of Tanks on console, tis the season to be jolly because freebies are coming your way, in the form of a new tank to use. Starting on Tuesday, December 22nd, you’ll find a gift waiting for you in game after the first multiplayer match you play: the Japanese Tier III Type 98 Ke-Ni Otsu Light Tank!

Only one prototype of the Type 98 Ke-Ni Otsu tank was ever built, and that was in 1939. This year, we’re bringing our in-game version of this vehicle to tank commanders of all levels as a free gift!

How to get the Type 98 Ke-Ni Otsu:

Simply log in and play one multiplayer match from December 22nd through January 4th. After the match ends, you’ll be awarded the Type 98 Ke-Ni Otsu in your Vehicles tab. That’s it!

Plus, be sure to take a close look in your account after you receive your tank. You might find that Santa left you some extra gifts with your Type 98 Ke-Ni Otsu!

World of Tanks + Chuck Norris: Everything You Need To Know About Holiday Ops 2021

World of Tanks is about to launch one hell of a holiday collaboration event, featuring a cozy little new town, tanks and Chuck Norris of all things. Here’s everything you need to know about WoT’s Holiday Ops 2021!

What’s Happening and When?

Holiday Ops 2021 lasts a month, from December 9, 2020 at 08:00 (UTC+1) through January 11, 2021 at 08:00 (UTC+1). There’s also an event extension from January 11 at 08:00 (UTC+1) until almost the end of January.

The aim of Holiday Ops is to complete all the various missions and collect as many decorations as possible. Put up your decorations to increase the Festive Atmosphere.

What Should I Do?

The higher the Festive Atmosphere Level, the better your rewards and bonuses in battles.
Complete Missions From Chuck to earn Small Boxes, an exclusive 2D style and Chuck Norris himself as a custom Commander.
You can also get Small Boxes by completing the standard daily missions available in the game.
In addition to the classic decorations, outfit your Garage with Large Decorations. Each Large Decoration will help you earn 2.5% more credits in Random Battles.
All the decorations you earn or get are arranged into four thematic Collections. Assembling a full Collection nets you an exclusive 2D style and a unique decal.
Break decorations you don’t need and put the Shards into the Decorider to get the ones your Collections lack.
Once you have reached Festive Atmosphere Level IV, you will be greeted by the first Snow Maiden. As your Festive Atmosphere Level increases over time, three more Snow Maidens will visit you. Click on any of them once a day to get a present containing one random decoration from their respective Collections.
Snow Maidens will also provide you with daily missions for x5 XP when victorious. You will receive as many x5 missions as there are Snow Maidens in your Garage.
You increase the Snow Maidens’ Presents Level by accepting their presents. Reaching new Presents Levels increases the minimum level of the decorations you will receive in subsequent presents.
Once you reach Festive Atmosphere Level X, you will be able to complete the Collections from previous years’ Holiday Ops events (2018–2020).
You can build your own Holiday Ops vehicles branch with up to 6 vehicles, from Tier V to Tier X. These vehicles, depending on their type, will receive special XP bonuses.
You will unlock an extra “Chuck’s slot” when you complete five Missions From Chuck, regardless of your current Festive Atmosphere Level.
Building Collections and increasing the Festive Atmosphere give you a Random Battle bonus to credits of up to 40%. Each Large Decoration gives you another 2.5% to credits earned.
Holiday Ops vehicles will continue to enjoy their slot bonuses from January 11 at 08:00 (UTC+1) until almost the end of January. In addition, they will receive the highest bonus to credits you achieved during the event.

There’s A New Garage

When you first open your Garage on December 9, you’ll also notice a special gift from us—the Pz.Sfl. IC, a German Tier IV Premium tank destroyer, with a 100% trained crew and a Garage slot.

This year, our holiday moved from the forest to a picturesque town in the mountains, filled with beautiful lights and magnificent installations. In fact, you won’t even be in a Garage. Instead, your fleet of vehicles will be parked in the Square! And while the Square is completely brand-new, everything should feel familiar. You can easily find the Christmas Tree, Feast, Installation, and Yard. There are also see new objects, including funny neon bears, a train with gifts rolling through the mountains, a Christmas carousel, and other signs of the festive season. The atmospheric Square should help immerse you even more into the holiday season while also lifting your spirits.
