Secretive startup, Stikipixels, is excited to reveal the v2.0 launch of its free-to-play MMO Occupy White Walls, a game that’s all about creating striking spaces and filling them with wondrous works of art. This latest version adds collaborative galleries, allowing you to explore the showrooms of other players and lose yourself in a journey of creativity and personal curation, as well as Russian, Spanish, German, French and Polish localisation.
Start with a blank canvas, build it up into the gallery of your dreams – be it art deco or the pristine walls of a modern space – and fill it with your favourite works. Build and present your gallery anywhere, from the grounded bustle of an urban metropolis to the otherworldly swirl of a void, using over 1,700 individual pieces to craft your own architectural masterpiece, including MoMA PS1, classical European art museums, and many more historical inspirations.
Collaborate with your friends to create the perfect space, and do justice to the pieces displayed within those bleached halls.
Once you’re done building the skeleton of your gallery, populate it with artwork from the MET in New York and National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, featuring some of the most prominent pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, you’ll also find plenty of contemporary artists such as Sergey Kolesov, Oriol Hernández, and Sr. X. Occupy White Walls is committed to blurring the line between a world builder and art education tool.
“Occupy White Walls is a virtual world unlike any other,” explains Professor Richard A. Bartle, an advisor on the game and one of the pioneers of massively multiplayer online game design. “OWW is shredding the rulebook for art accessibility by using the virtual to show the real world how it’s done. You don’t have to like all art, you just have to know there is art you’ll like – OWW will do the rest. Throw a wall here, a window there, add a doorway to the room where you keep all your pictures of thunderstorms, abstract squares, or anything by Cezanne. Whatever you want, OWW will help you find it, display it, and show it off to others.”
Occupy White Walls features a cutting edge AI named DAISY who tracks your tastes based on your art purchases and gallery visits. This information is used by DAISY to custom-tailor your experience. As you curate and develop your gallery, DAISY points you in the direction of new pieces you may enjoy, perhaps uncovering hidden gems and opening you up to a new level of art appreciation.
