Final Fantasy XIV Increases Monthly Sub Price In Brazil And Russia
Square Enix are increasing the price of monthly subscriptions for Final Fantasy XIV in Brazil and Russia. According to a post on the official forums, one poster discovered the monthly price increase on Steam. Naturally, the player base in these regions are not happy.
The raise in subscription prices will see the price increased from $9 a month to $13.40 in Brazil. Furthermore, Russian players will now need to cough up $15 monthly from the previous $5. Square Enix customer support claims that this was done to bring prices using these currencies in-line with the global pricing structure.
In addition, players are also noting that items on the MogStation have the same percentage in price increases. The MogStation is FFXIV’s out of game cash-shop, which sells emotes, cosmetics and pets. There are over a hundred pages now on the forum post that highlights the price increase, and majority of the feedback isn’t positive. Check out the forum post here.
Many feel that increasing the prices is not the issue, but the problem lies with how the game went about doing it. There appears to be no official post, announcement or any form of communication to players regarding price increases. One poster even suggests that this goes against Square Enix’s Terms of Service, not giving players warning in advance. To read the full official response, click here.
