Secret World Legends Takes Zero Tolerance Stance Against Players Purchasing Marks of Favor From 3rd Party Sellers

Funcom’s Secret World Legends will be taking account action against players who purchase Marks of Favor from third party sellers. In a recent Reddit post, Community Manager AndyB explained that players who do so will get their accounts suspended. Depending on the severity of the economic impact, some accounts may suffer a permanent ban without review.

Secret World Legends has had an influx of MoF spammers (gold spammers) in game chat recently. While it’s nothing new to MMOs, bots and currency third party sellers can potentially hit SWL hard. This is because the game’s economy is player driven by the Aurum/Marks of Favor exchange rate.

Additionally, this practice negatively impacts the relationship of Aurum and Marks of Favour. These payments also cause us and other companies damage due to chargebacks and the extra fee we have to pay when a chargeback is issued. We hope you understand our position on this matter, and we thank you for reading! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact support at https://help.funcom.com/.”

Another concern as stated by Funcom is that the currency on offer is made from purchases using stolen payment information. Anyone who then buys, will also be at risk of having their payment information exposed. For more information on the announcement, check out the official Reddit post here.
