Star Wars Celebration: Free Astromech Droid Pet For SWTOR

This past weekend was all about celebrating 40 years of Star Wars, and regardless of your level of fandom, be it from SWTOR to Battlefield, we’re glad this universe exists.

While it’s unfortunate that Bioware and SWTOR did not make an appearance at the Orlando celebrations, there’s still good news. All players can pick up a free Astromech Droid! The pet is available as a special Star Wars Celebration gift.

To claim your free pet, simply apply SWCELEBRATION17 to the claim a code section on your account page. This is a purely cosmetic pet that can be summoned and will follow you around the galaxy. Once claimed, players will receive the Droid from the in-game Mailbox on Tuesday, April 18.

In other Star Wars related news, the celebrations were epic this time around. The reveal for The Last Jedi trailer was fantastic, and even Harrison Ford and Hayden Christensen made appearances. Hayden especially, took me off guard as he’s taken the brunt of criticisms for his portrayal as Anakin Skywalker. It’s still good to see him at the celebrations on top of the reception he was given nonetheless.

For gaming related goodness, we also got to watch the Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer. The biggest news is perhaps that there will not be a Season Pass for the game. Developers DICE are aware of the player feedback that it creates a divided community. EA of course, has since asked journalists to withhold that information, because money.

Regardless, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan. Let us just hope that SWTOR has a bright future ahead that lives up to expectations.
