The All worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally

Date: January 11 – January 18, 2022 (BEGINS AND ENDS AT 12:00PM GMT)
Requirement: Levels 20+

In the growing shadow of war, swoop fans across the galaxy descend on Dantooine, Tatooine, and even Onderon for the sport’s biggest spectacle—The All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally! They’re packing the stands, eager to take their minds off their troubles and cheer their favorite swoop gangs. The bikers are here to take on dangerous challenge courses, show off their piloting skills, and flaunt their souped-up swoop bikes. The thunder of the engines, the deafening applause from the fans, the wind battering their helmets… there’s no bigger rush for these thrill seekers.

Despite their reputation as wild rebels whose makeshift courses disregard local districting restrictions, swoop gangs aren’t a serious threat to anyone–something all true swoop fans know! They just love adrenaline-pounding speed, sweet jumps, and big explosions, and the All Worlds Ultimate Swoop Rally combines all three in one crowd-pleasing package. The biggest gangs on the circuit — Horizon’s Razor, the Pit Screamers, and the Blatant Beks — are ready to show their fans a great time.

2021 will see a few new MMORPGS hit the market like Amazon’s New World, Pearl Abyss’s Crimson Desert and even the much hyped Ashes of Creation, even if the latter is just alpha tests. Wouldn’t be sweeter if more existing MMORPGS that haven’t been active in recent years make new content for folks to check out too? We think so. So here’s a few MMORPGs we’d like to see new content from.

RIFT

RIFT is adrift somewhere out at sea, in terms of new content. Ever since Trion was bought over by gamigo, the once much talked about competitor to World of Warcraft has been on AFK mode. The existing player base hasn’t seen any form of new content or expansions beside Battle Passes in a very long time. A new content update introducing a new class, zone, storyline or even dungeon would be almost too much excitement to handle, if it were to come this year. Heck even an update to its excellent housing system would do!  RIFT is a fun MMORPG with a decent combat system that rewards players who dabble in class builds, so it’s a pity that all we’ve got so far is to replay the content over and over.

Secret World Legends

Can’t have a discussion about the best MMORPG setting and narrative without including Funcom’s Secret World Legends, formerly The Secret World. Like RIFT above, the game has been in maintenance mode since early 2019, with absolutely no new heavy content coming out since the game’s last expansion, South Africa. The problem is, that expansion was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of laying the story ground-work of what’s next for the game, and where players we’re headed for the next adventure (Congo), but at this rate, most players have given up hope that we’d even get there. Yes, Secret World Legends has many problems across the board that drove a core player base away from the game’s 2017 relaunch, but it’s damn shame if Funcom’s new Tencent buddies won’t help to financially deliver a proper story closure for the game’s players at the very least. Will 2021 be the year the game takes us to Congo, or shut down for good?

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Now unlike the rest of the list, BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG has been doing great over the past year, following up its Onslaught expansion release with content updates like Echoes of Vengeance, tweaking its Free to Play model to be more generous, and even catering toward Mandalorian fans with new gear and stuff. It’s a good time to be a SWTOR player. In 2021 however, it would be great to drop another expansion to capitalize on the new players the game has gotten since 2018 (Onslaught, Steam launch) and the best way to do that is to release another fantastically written expansion adventure. Oh and more group content like dungeons and raids wouldn’t hurt! This is the way.

Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) has launched on Steam this month, 9 years after the MMORPG’s launch. For those that don’t know, SWTOR is a free to play MMO with an optional subscription, and former paying players are known as preferred. Last month, BioWare announced that it would be making some changes to the the limitations that non-subscribers would an encounter in-game. Below are the changes coming.

Increased Credit Cap

Long gone are the days where you could buy a gallon of Bantha milk for five credits. Initially when SWTOR developed its Free-to-Play and Preferred models, a cap of 200,000 credits and 350,000 respectively seemed like a fair amount. Over the years, it’s become a simple truth that those credit amounts don’t buy what it used to though. As the game has grown, so has the economy. Taking this into account, SWTOR will be raising the credit cap of both Free-to-Play and Preferred members to 1,000,000 credits.

Good or Bad: Obviously fantastic change for non-subscribers, as having more credits on you goes a long way to helping players. Prior to this it can be annoyingly tedious to withdraw bit by bit just to use the AH. It almost felt like going to an ATM machine IRL.

Extra Quickbar (Hotbar)

Quickbars are another feature that has been limited between the various account types. Currently Subscribers have six available to them, while Preferred have four and Free-to-Play accounts have just two. When this system was initially designed, only four at most were available. Keeping this in mind, SWTOR will be adding an additional Quickbar for both Preferred and Free-to-Play accounts – increasing the number to five and three respectively. With this addition, players will be able to have more abilities, Mounts, and Mini-pets available to them for immediate use.

Good or Bad: This is good news. Quickbars are a necessity as SWTOR does have quite a number of class skills and other executables we love putting on these bars. Limiting them in the first place came across as greedy – not many F2P MMORPG games at the time locked you out of quickbars.

Medical Probe and Quick Travel

Lastly, there are changes to Medical Probes and Quick Travel. Medical Probes allow a character to revive where they died instead of recovering at a Medical Station. Quick Travel allows characters to immediately travel to a discovered point on their current planet. Both of these features have been primarily available to Subscribers, while Preferred and Free-to-Play players could only obtain consumable versions via the Cartel Market. Both of these features are being removed from the Cartel Market and every player will be able to revive or Quick Travel where applicable.

Good or Bad: Decent, as this is more of a quality of life improvement but it’s not exactly game changing for F2P players.

Are These Enough?

It’s a good first step that BioWare is slowly starting to ease off on these limitations. Is it too late however, considering how the MMORPG landscape has evolved? Today you’ll find many free titles or event Buy to Play titles that ignore these petty limitations altogether. What SWTOR can do is look at the game from a new player perspective in 2020 and evaluate what can make the entire experience better. One way to do so is to make the first couple of expansions free for preferred players. That means if you’ve spent any form of money in-game at all, you’re preferred and eligible. This makes sense as the game will be getting a brand new expansion this September, and might give new players a taste of what to expect in the meantime to justify a subscription.

SWTOR, or Star Wars: The Old Republic, has launched a brand new expansion titled Onslaught. This is the first expansion since 2016’s Knights of the Eternal Throne update, which was story heavy featuring player’s characters as the Outlander. But now with the return of a prominent and popular Republic vs Sith story line, fans and players can dive into a brand new plot and new features that have come to the MMORPG. Here are some key features.

Free For Subs, Story Continues From Jedi Under Siege

Onslaught is a free expansion for all subscribers of SWTOR. Unfortunately, free or preferred players will not be able to access it. But it could be worth getting a one month sub due to the sheer amount of content coming in the expansion, from the new story, the new race to the new dungeon and even raid. This hasn’t been done often in SWTOR’s case for expansions, where content drips in slowly instead. From a story perspective, the narrative picks up right after the Jedi Under Siege update from last year.

War between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire blazes across the galaxy. Crucial resources dwindle as piracy and crime escalate dramatically. Amid this chaos, the Alliance Commander has the chance to tip the scales in favor of either faction, committing their elite forces to decide the fate of the galaxy.

As the Sith Empire prepares to make a decisive strike against a newly-constructed Republic shipyard on the planet Corellia, members of the Dark Council see victory on the horizon and begin plotting against one another in anticipation of the spoils. Meanwhile, Republic forces must race against time to muster reinforcements from across the galaxy in order to defend Corellia from the Sith.

New Operation and Flashpoint Ready To Go At Launch

For end-gamers and group players, good news on the content front. With Onslaught, the story will be building up to two main offerings, a new flashpoint and operation. Beginning with the operation, the raid will feature familiar enemies on a brand new never-before seen planet of SWTOR since KOTOR II, Dxun. Dxun is Onderon’s largest moon, is teeming with wild jungle-life – drawing the attention of the unscrupulous Czerka Corporation as well as a band of fanatical Trandoshan hunters.

As for the Flashpoint aka dungeon, there is a solo and group mode available to accommodate all players. Excitingly, in the dramatic finale of the expansion storyline, you will see Corellia like never before. This new Flashpoint will bring players to a new area on the classic SWTOR planet Corellia.

New Level Cap, Race and Zone

The level cap has also increaed for the first time since the previous expansion. This makes the journey through Onslaught feel a lot more tangible which is good. All classes have gotten new abilities to play with too, to diversify playstyles moving forward. Additionally, BioWare released a new playable race – Nautolans – that you can play as with this expansion. Just look up Jedi Kit Fisto to get an idea of what they look like. Moreover, players will also visit the mining-colony of Mek-Sha, an independent fueling station and boomtown built in the hollows of a mined-out asteroid once controlled by the Hutts. This lawless den of smugglers, pirates, mercenaries, traders, and refugees has become a crossroads for the entire galaxy – a place where opportunity and danger can be found in equal measure.

Tactical Gear and Slot

SWTOR has also added a new type of gear slot – Tactical items. These build-defining items directly alter your abilities and playstyle. Taking these new items, players will be able to pair them with numerous new set bonuses to choose from, including general sets that can be used by everyone.

These item sets can be acquired through multiple paths. Acquire your gear no matter how you choose to play: Player vs Environment, Player vs Player, Galactic Command, and Crafting are all viable. New set items, Tactical items, and more open a pathway to limitless depth allowing you to play your character exactly how you want.

In an official website announcement made today, BioWare has stated that SWTOR’s upcoming Onslaught expansion will be delayed. Onslaught will be Star Wars: The Old Republic’s third expansion since launch, and will feature all new content including a new playable race, a new operation, planets and gear progression system. The original launch date was scheduled to happen in September 2019. However, Keith Kanneg, Senior Producer at SWTOR has revealed that since the expansion began testing on the Private Test Server in late June, more time was needed.

“The feedback from our Public Test Server (PTS), along with the data from our internal play tests showed us we need more time. We haven’t released all the changes to PTS, and we want time to make adjustments based on your insight. It was a difficult decision but with our commitment to delivering you a quality experience, we’ve decided to push the release date for our new expansion to October 22, 2019.”

Additionally, players currently testing Onslaught on the PTS will see sweeping changes to current content on there soon. This includes being able to check out the new operation plus the gear progression systems like gear sets, tacticals and amplifiers. Furthermore, the Nautolan subscriber reward was previously announced to be given to any player who is a subscriber on launch day. As a special thank you, BioWare have decided to give the Nautolan species to everyone who is a subscriber anytime between September 1, 2019 and October 22, 2019.

What SWTOR can do is look at the game from a new player perspective in 2019 and evaluate what can make the entire experience better.

Star Wars: The Old Republic aka SWTOR, is a free to play MMORPG that’s been around since 2011. Coming in September 2019, SWTOR will be getting a brand new expansion titled Onslaught. This will be the first expansion since 2016’s Knights of the Eternal Throne update, which was story heavy featuring player’s characters as the Outlander. But now with the return of a prominent and popular Republic vs Sith story line, fans and players are excited at what this new expansion brings.  Here’s what you can expect from SWTOR’s upcoming expansion this September and why it’s worth waiting for.

Further Expands The Star Wars: The Old Republic Galactic War

Onslaught will be a free expansion for all subscribers of Star Wars: The Old Republic in September. Unfortunately, free or preferred players will not be able to access it. But it could be worth getting a one month sub due to the sheer amount of content coming at release.

New Group Content That Sounds Interesting With Day One Launch

For Star Wars: The Old Republic end-gamers and group players, good news on the content front. Come Onslaught’s launch, the story will be building up to two main offerings, a new flashpoint and operation.

As for the Flashpoint aka dungeon, there will be solo and group modes available to accommodate all players. Excitingly, in the dramatic finale of the expansion storyline, you will see Corellia like never before. This new Flashpoint will bring players to a new area on the classic SWTOR planet Corellia.

New Level Cap, Race and Zone

The level cap will also be increasing for the first time since the previous expansion. This makes the journey through Onslaught feel a lot more tangible which is good. All classes will be getting new abilities to play with too, to diversify playstyles moving forward. Additionally, BioWare teased that a new playable race – Nautolans – are coming to the game with this expansion.

New Tactical Gear and Slot

Star Wars: The Old Republic are also adding a new type of gear slot – Tactical items.
