In addition to the tried and true 5v5 core gameplay mode featured in Heroes Evolved, R2Games has been providing unique rule-sets for players to enjoy the game in a new light. Previously, TOTAL MAYHEM, BLOODY CARNAGE (7v7), and CLONE WAR have been available to play. Building on the success of these modes, the Heroes Evolved team is happy to announce the next upcoming way to play Heroes Evolved during Chinese Spring Festival.

This Lunar New Year, gather your friends to face the NIAN BEAST INVASION. Players will have to band together as a specific playable hero to take on a massive boss encounter together – something not traditionally seen in traditional MOBA games.

In addition to this, R2Games is releasing a fresh batch of skins, as well as multiple other events to celebrate the holidays. Overall, these are pretty solid updates for the game as it tries to retain players with another mode and more progressions to work toward. This will be helpful during the upcoming Lunar holidays!

Heroes Evolved is releasing a major patch to their mobile smash hit Heroes Evolved in the coming days. The update adds a number of new features, events,  and adjustments, including a brand new playable character, to the ever growing roster of playable heroes.

A number of quality of life improvements are here for players, such as the ability to customize the position of the all-important cancel button. This gives players more granular control over their characters actions than ever before, allowing for intense, high-skill maneuvers on the battlefield. An updated Check-in rewards system has also been implemented, granting players free heroes and skins just for playing the game regularly.

Another major change players should be excited about is the addition of two new items: Beryls, and Beads. With these, players will be able to redeem awesome prizes that were previously only available from the Lucky Wheel.

The latest hero to make their debut in Heroes Evolved is Wendy, a small yet super energetic girl with a mighty hammer – she packs a real punch. She, and her special Sugar Rush skin, are available at a 20% discount for the first 7 days!

This wouldn’t be a Lunar New Year update without the inclusion of some new events! Collect Firecrackers by playing matches in both ranked and unranked, and redeem them for incredible themed prizes, gems, tokens, and more!

We all love MOBA games. There’s something addictive about these competitive games and it’s hard to narrow down why. Perhaps it’s that adrenaline we get in the heat of the moment. Or is it that success depends on skill, teamwork and timing?

There are just too many variables, made harder by the ever growing genre. Today just about every studio has tried their hand at creating a MOBA. Heroes Evolved is one such competitor. Can this game stand out among the greats like DOTA 2 and League of Legends?

1. What Makes It Good?

Heroes Evolved by R2 Games is unmistakably a MOBA that takes its inspiration from fan favorites DOTA 2 and League of Legends. Don’t write off its resemblance as just a copy though, as the game tries to be different and succeeds by introducing interesting gameplay mechanics such as a Glyph system, which allows players to alter the stats of their heroes like an RPG game.
Players will also have access to a large pool of heroes at release, and all 58 heroes are uniquely themed, well designed and come fully voiced. The MOBA gameplay feels both fresh and familiar and there are two types of match modes available alongside two maps. While it isn’t the best looking game out there graphically, it does hold its own style with a mix of LoL’s comic and cartoon design with a bit of anime.

2. What Needs To Improve?

Where the game falls short is with its match-making system that can’t seem to balance matches properly. Albeit it’s still early days, having a working match-making system is crucial towards building a thriving player base, whilst keeping the game fair and competitive for all. Currently, the system has a tendency to pair new players with very experienced opponents, and fills the empty slots with bots. This makes some matches incredibly one sided. Thankfully this doesn’t happen very often but when it does it gets really frustrating.
Speaking of bots, Heroes Evolved also lacks a decent comp stomp versus the AI. There is one co-op mode which pits you solo with AI teammates against bots, but you can’t chose their difficulty level and are left with the default setting which seems to be above normal. This makes the practice mode harder than it should be. It’s great for experienced players wanting to keep sharp, but bad for newer players who want to practice.

3. Is It Worthy?

As a MOBA, Heroes Evolved is a great alternative in the genre. It keeps the familiar gameplay solid while introducing some fresh mechanics such as simplifying stats and its Glyph RPG system. Players looking for something different will definitely find it here. The game feels good without sacrificing the competitive nature of matches and large pool of heroes to experiment with. While some early release issues remain, expect Heroes Evolved to only get better with each update.

The mobile version of the game was rebuilt to streamline the game for mobile devices and controls. A PC version of the game did also exist at the time through a standalone client which can be downloaded on the official website. The team behind the game have just gotten the approval from Valve to launch the game on Steam.

Players no longer need to used the R2Games website and log in to play the game; it’s possible to launch the game without a client through Steam. However, there are no real benefits to using the Steam version of the game and it’s unclear if there’s crossplay between the two versions. There has been no talk of crossplay between the Steam and website versions of the game. It has been confirmed however that there is no way to carry progress over from one version to the other.

Heroes Evolved The Steam Store Version

The Steam store version does have some minor enhancements however. This version of the game does have a brand new UI that makes the game much more pleasant to look at. In addition to this, the menu system has been tweaked to make it more streamlined and easier to access.

Currently, the EU version of the game is in beta and currently lacks support for the English language. The team is looking to fix this however and have acknowledged the issue. While this is good news for the future, there is no support for the most widely spoken language in Europe.

R2Games have stated that they’re dedicated to improving Heroes Evolved and will be taking player suggestions into account.
