Square Enix has announced the launch of Patch 6.05 this week for its MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, or FFXIV, which launched its Endwalker expansion only last month. As most FF14 players know, Endwalker contains hours upon hours of new content and the latest patch serves to add more onto the pile with fresh things to do, like a treasure dungeon and more.

First up, players can check out The Excitatron 6000, which is a special instance similar to the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah, and it can be accessed after finding and opening treasure coffers obtained from kumbhiraskin treasure maps. Here, players will have the chance to test their luck and obtain priceless treasures.

Additionally for those wanting a challenge, the Savage version of the Pandæmonium: Asphodelos raid has been added to the game and can be accessed using the Raid Finder. Just be warned, this will take skill and a good group composition in order to stand a chance of completion. Upon completing Pandæmonium: Asphodelos (Savage) duties, a treasure coffer will appear containing an Asphodelos Coffer. Using this item transforms it into gear corresponding to the user’s current job. In addition, the coffers that appear upon completing Asphodelos: The Fourth Circle (Savage) yield weapons.

Players can also look forward to Job tweaks, new tomestones and other good stuff, and the full list can be found on the official patch notes here.

For players of Square Enix’s multi award winning MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, take note that the collaboration event with Final Fantasy XIV in-game event is currently on-going until October 18th.

The crossover event contains a series of quests that lets you adventure with Noctis for some epic rewards, but we won’t spoil anything beyond that if you value the narrative.

On the other hand, you’ll need to be level 50 and have completed The Ultimate Weapon scenario from the base game’s MSQ in order to be eligible. If you are, simply head to the Steps of Nald in Ul’dah and pick up the quest “The Man in Black” to begin the crossover quest.

If you missed it previously, this is a great chance to earn Noctis’s car, which in FFXIV, it becomes a 4-player shared mount which is awesome for ferrying friends across the Eorzea. Oh it flies too.

Final Fantasy 14 has come a long way since its troubled launch, on today it’s one of the biggest and most played MMORPGs out there. Last year’s Shadowbringers expansion further solidified its status as the best premium MMO, and this year the changes and additions to the game has only made it easier for new players to get going quicker, which is good news. But for players still on the fence, here’s why you should definitely check it out.

The Storytelling Is Amazing

You’ve probably heard this one before about FFXIV. Final Fantasy XIV – much like all the other games in the franchise – relies heavily on story and narrative driven gameplay. In this MMORPG, you character takes up the mantle of Warrior of Light begins adventuring around the world of Eorzia, gaining memorable companions along the way. Will a mix of fully voiced dialogue cut-scenes, well written plot and more, it’s easy to immerse yourself in the world FFXIV has cultivated over the last 6 years. It doesn’t get off to a good start however, and something FFXIV suffers with is the vanilla content’s pacing. It feels like one giant introductory quest to MMO’s for new players all the way up to level 50. However having said that, the game just picks up significantly in terms of content, story and characters once you get to the game’s first expansion, Heavensward. And trust us, it only ascends from there on out, with Shadowbringers being the pinnacle of the game’s excellent use of world and character building, to tie stories together in a satisfying way, since first encountering certain elements set in motion from years ago. It’s definitely the game’s biggest strength, so if you like a good story in an MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV delivers in the end.

One of the Best MMO Communities

MMORPG communities foster over time, and a good indicator of just how well a game is doing can be seen in its community. FFXIV’s community in 2021 is definitely right up there among the good. Folks are friendly, welcoming and there’s an air excitement in general. The new expansion definitely is the catalyst, as new content in this MMORPG always brings more players in, and returning ones back. That creates a good well for both sets of players to mix, and FFXIV does have tools in place to foster bonds between the two. That includes the Mentor system, new player icons and of course, New and Preferred servers that encourages folks to play together for benefits. Don’t be fooled into thinking there isn’t toxicity here – every MMORPG has asshats, but the good news is they’re pretty much drowned out by the sheer amount of good folks on FFXIV right now, taking advantage of Shadowbringers to bolster  their guilds (free companies) with all the recruitment. If you are looking for a guild to play with, now’s a fantastic time to get picked up.

Developers That Listen

When it comes to MMORPG developers, we judge them on a multitude of factors, especially how they react to player feedback. Square Enix does indeed care, albeit they take their time implementing improvements to the game. The benefit of jumping into Final Fantasy XIV four years after release is that you’re getting the best of the changes now. One of the major complaints of the base game is that PvP requirement. The new Stormblood expansion now makes it faster to get into PvP, beginning at level 30. This is a significant change that allows the PvP enthusiasts to experience it sooner and the scaling is great too.

FFXIV’s Multi-Class System

One of the game’s best features is hands down, the Job mechanic. See, in Final Fantasy XIV, you start with one class in the beginning. At certain levels, you can then unlock and pick additional classes, and advanced classes called Jobs down the line. The best part is you can swap between them at any time. They level independently, giving you room to experiment, and play the content you want as the role you want, anytime. It’s a great system that does away with an age-old MMORPG trope of leveling alts just to try something different. While FFXIV knows you’re on the subscription, it isn’t trying to blatantly milk you for cash by having you level multiple alts just to keep you around longer. This system lets you grind for everything on one character, including gear sets that can be shared with your jobs that can use them. It’s incredibly welcoming for MMORPG veterans in that department, especially considering the replay value you have with the amount of Jobs in-game currently and the numerous amount of dungeons, Trials and Raids available to play with.

Final Fantasy 14 has come a long way since its troubled launch, and today it’s one of the biggest and most played MMORPGs out there. Since 2019’s critically acclaimed Shadowbringers expansion launched, FFXIV has only  solidified its status as the best premium MMO, and this year the bar may possibly be raised again. The upcoming Endwalker expansion is set to introduce two brand new, amazing looking Jobs and we all know just how good the story can be. That said, new players may be wondering what the  fuss is all about. So we’ll tell you.

The Storytelling Is Amazing

You’ve probably heard this one before about FFXIV. Final Fantasy XIV – much like all the other games in the franchise – relies heavily on story and narrative driven gameplay. Square Enix does indeed care, albeit they take their time implementing improvements to the game. The benefit of jumping into Final Fantasy XIV many after release is that you’re getting the best of the changes now. There has been a ton of improvements, like streamlining the core leveling experience in the vanilla game with less quest clutter and introducing flying to these zones, alongside opening up the free trial to let players experience the whole game up until the Heavensward expansion, which is a big deal.

Final Fantasy 14 players looking for new content to tackle this week will be happy to note that the latest update has exactly what you need. Patch 5.25 brings a multitude of additions and refinements to the realm, including the introduction of a new quest series offering upgradeable equipment, Save the Queen, as well as Skysteel crafter and gatherer tools.

Resistance Weapon Quest Battle

To complete this quest, players must also undertake a lengthy instanced duty. In the event you are defeated by one of its bosses, your progression in the duty will be saved, allowing you to challenge them again immediately rather than start from the beginning.
* Pleased be advised that progression will be lost should you log out or undertake a different duty.

Obtaining Resistance Weapons

Upon completing these quests, players will receive one resistance weapon based on the job with which they progressed through the quest.

A separate, repeatable quest is available for those who wish to earn weapons for additional jobs.

Class/Job-specific Quests

Certain resistance weapon quests employ a system which will require players to proceed using the same class or job with which they accepted the quest.

Future Resistance Weapon Quests

Resistance weapons can be enhanced further by completing the story quests that will be added in future patches. Please note that enhancing these weapons may require players to invest a significant amount of time.

Final Fantasy 14 has released its latest content update. In Patch 5.2, players are getting more story continuation to the excellent Shadowbringers expansion and so much more.

This latest update to the critically acclaimed MMO brings new challenges to Warriors of Light not only on the First, but also on their home of the Source, where the Eorzean forces continue their fight against the Garlean Empire.

The Patch 5.2x series brings a wealth of new content for all playstyles:

  • New Main Scenario Quests – With Eulmore on the path to a brighter tomorrow, the Scions await such time as the Exarch might return them home. Not in idleness, however─for when has any world been content to grant its heroes respite?
  • New Raid: Eden’s Verse – The second chapter in the 8-player Eden raid series will feature challenging new battles in both normal and savage difficulties. Eden’s Verse introduces the character of Gaia, created by famed FINAL FANTASY developer Tetsuya Nomura.
  • New Dungeon: Anamnesis Anyder – Tackle this new challenge alongside fellow adventurers, or a party of non-player characters using the Trust system.
  • New Trial: Cinder Drift – The Ruby Weapon represents the latest advances in Garlean military technology, and can be challenged by players in both normal and extreme difficulties.
  • New Beast Tribe Quests – The Qitari tribe will provide new quests for Disciples of the Land classes.
  • New Chronicles of a New Era Quest “The Sorrow of Werlyt” – Discover the lore behind this new quest series, as the Garlean Empire seeks to break the stalemate with Eorzean forces by unleashing this culmination of its twisted experimentation.
  • Ocean Fishing – This Fisher-exclusive content will allow players to board a ship at specified times to enjoy fishing on the high seas, receiving experience and scrips based off the fish caught. Meeting certain conditions while aboard will grant all passengers the chance of a big haul.
