Currently, global tests of this new system is already happening and details of its full launch will arrive in the future. In the meantime, Gloria Victis players can take part in a new Glory Season for rewards, on top of experiencing some quality of life additions.

A dedicated skill tree for the horse riders has been added too, allowing players to specialize in the cavalry tactics or become the horse archers, or look for a mixed build most suitable for their playstyle.

Finding a proper build for the mount is as much important. It’s all up to the player’s choice if her or his horse’s biggest advantage will be its vitality, or agility, or the ability to reach the max speed quicker than any other mount.

The Freebuilding system has been applied to the castles controlled by guilds. This way guilds received a powerful tool with great possibilities, while not affecting the castles controlled by nations, which are the objectives on the Faction v Faction v Faction open PVP map.

When building its perfect castle, a guild can freely design different layers of fortifications and upgrade them to chosen level – from palisade to wooden walls, and finally to stone walls which can’t be burnt to the ground, unlike the lower upgrades – and to place ballistas on top of towers, allowing the castle owners to destroy incoming enemy battering rams and catapults. Then fill the area inside with economic or utility objects, such as a tavern, training arena, stalls with vendors of all type and crafting workshops.

The guild has complete freedom of choice with this system, as long as the castle doesn’t exceed the defined building area (which is pretty vast for most of the castles) and doesn’t run out of the building points. It’s worth to note that there are 3 types of guild territories: forts, strongholds and castles, each having a different pool of points for building and upgrading the fortifications and economic buildings. This solution assures that there will be enough variety between all 9 Guild Castles which exist on each server.

Now, with the Freebuilding system introduced, the development will focus on finalizing the implementation of horses and mounted combat, as well as on expanding the available content and overall improvements of existing systems.

Flaming Siege Engines

Gloria Victis has added two brand new world events, each placed in a unique and breathtaking location and with a chance for PVP combat, as they’re taking place in the open world.
One of them, the Fall of the Exile, throws players into an epic large-scale invasion on a castle controlled by the ex-army officer who has since turned an outlaw. This event makes extensive use of siege engines, summing up the recent additions to that matter. The game also expanded the existing Sea Wraiths event, in which a group of players hunt down the mysterious band of pirate slavers in their hideout. The next stage was added to the event, bringing in new NPC enemies to defeat and new precious loot to earn in a tropical location.

New PvP Rankings

There’s no denying: players naturally tend to compete with each other, especially in PVP games in Gloria Victis. To accommodate this, Gloria Victis has added a brand new type of competitive content: Weekly Rankings. With them, the players have now many new activities to compete with, from fighting the other factions, kills or contributing to their guild and faction, to gathering resources in the world and farming, even to 1v1 arena duels and dice games played. Adding to the existing Glory, Arena and Guild rankings, it creates a vast, diverse playground for the competitive players

Heraldic Update for Guilds

And here’s something that’s been a long awaited update by Gloria Victis players in-game. From now on, players can display their guild emblems, created with the in-game editor, on their shields, which greatly adds to the game’s roleplaying aspect. Moreover, the upcoming update will bring the ability for players to create their personal heraldic too!

Proper siege equipment in the massive open world sieges is epic by itself, but that’s not all. Unlike in similar games, catapults in Gloria Victis aren’t simple static objects – they can be moved by the players around the world! Not only does it create an entirely new layer of tactical options and enhances the players’ freedom. It’s also a prelude for the introduction of movable battering rams and a huge step towards adding ships, wagons and mounts, which makes us super excited!

Also, the update v.0.8.8.0 introduced a new world event, in which all nations compete with each other by capturing locations in the world, trying to conquer as many lands as possible. There are also numerous convenience and balance improvements to the Gloria Victis’ player-driven economy and expanded crafting, updated open world PVP balance and many bugfixes.

Gloria Victis has been recently updated to incorporate a few interesting gameplay additions. The last weekly update introduced a long-awaited feature: interactive objects placed in the world by players! From now on, players can plant their own seeds: vegetables, fruits, herbs, cereals or flax – the choice is theirs. But they will have to take care of plants plants in order to harvest decent crops: water them and protect from animals, weeds, negative effects of weather conditions and enemy raiders. Seeds can be planted almost anywhere, though the best results come from planting them on fields at farms.

Moreover, from now on players can place their own tent and campfire! Tents work as one-time personal spawnpoints, so they are a great tactical option for sieging enemy towns and castles. Enemies can destroy them though, so one has to be careful when selecting a spot for a tent. The campfires, on the other hand, can be used as workshops for the recently introduced cooking crafting branch. Players will be able to build their own workshops to other crafts soon as well.

Also, addition of the farming system and objects placement creates great opportunities for future features. Depending on the Community’s will, we might consider implementing freebuilding system in the guild locations and housing system.

The latest Gloria Victis update introduced the long-awaited playable female characters! There were massive preparations behind this change, including rework of all armors and garments in order to make them fit to female characters. However, we’re sure it was totally worth to do it so our players can finally roleplay who they want in the immersive medieval world of Gloria Victis.

Also, the latest updates brought new mechanics requested by players to the Gloria Victis non-target combat. From now on, polearms and longswords do cleave attacks, hurting up to 3 opponents with diminishing damage. Moreover, shieldmen can now stun their targets with a well-aimed shield bash. However, another new mechanics significantly changes the shield tactics, making using it much more balance – we’ve added the arm’s endurance for shield blocking. Once an arm is tired it goes numb and a shieldman has to block with weapon for a while, becoming much more vulnerable to both melee attacks and arrows. This change was added in order to reduce the “shield turtling” occurrence.

We have also added new content and numerous gameplay improvements. There are now 80 new mid- and end-game events (public quests) placed along the possible frontlines. Thanks to this, solo players and small groups always have plenty of activities to complete when they need a break from epic PVP battles or world events.

PvP-centric MMO Gloria Victis’s new GvG update is now live. The new patch introduces the Skergard Castle, which guilds can battle to gain control of for benefits. These includes giving guilds access to workshops and taxation.

The castle is located on a snowy peak which isn’t ideal, but it sure makes for an epic battleground. Furthermore, the developers are hinting that this is just one of many iconic castles to battle over.

“A castle that each medieval lord would be proud of – are you ready to possess a one? Get ready for intense fights over the Skergard Castle – the very first guild-controlled location placed on top of a breathtaking mountain!”

In future there will also be more “friendly” territories, as well as locations of different wealth. Since the amount of territories a guild would be able to control at the same time, so one guild won’t be able to dominate entire server, the strongest guilds would preferably focus on the wealthiest territories, leaving poorer lands to smaller guilds.

Gloria Victis is definitely shaking things up competitively for guilds. Territories are now becoming more interesting, so it will be fun watching how things are going to be balance-wise. For more information on this update, check out the official post here.

Gloria Victis is finally rolling out it’s brand new combat system. The combat overhaul was announced some months ago and have been a priority for developers Black Eye Games.

The new combat system includes motion capture animations, a new synchronization system and a reworked controller system as well. Furthermore, the latest patch enhances gameplay for players, thanks to the level of immersion. What this update boils down to is that Gloria Victis is now closer to its initial vision. It wants the game to be about a player’s focus and skill in PvP, and now it is exactly that.

For the game’s newest motion capture animations, they looked to Jakub Kisiel, who’s played a part in The Witcher 3 and Gears of War. Animations are a fundamental feature for any MMO and the latest update is a significant improvement. Here’s a trailer sneak peak below.

Elsewhere, the new controller and sync system gives the server much more authority over a player’s movement and actions. Hence, every action will feel weighted and impact-full that ever before. To wrap up the combat overhaul, the blocking mechanic is also a thing to note. Blocking now requires you to aim at an opponent’s attack to block it. This improves the level of dynamics and sets the game on par with medieval combat games such as Chivalry: Medieval Warfare.
