Classic servers, limited time servers and fresh start servers have become increasingly popular in MMORPGs. Over the past two years, plenty of MMORPGs – especially long running ones – have released new servers that roll back to the early days of its beginnings to offer players a walk down memory lane. Lord of the Rings Online has their Legendary Servers, while WoW has WoW Classic and even The Burning Crusade Classic coming up.  With the hype and positivity surrounding classic servers in addition to the benefits it brings to classic MMORPGs, which games could use fresh start servers in 2021 to give the game and its player population a boost?

TERA

TERA used to rule the world of Asian MMORPGs for a time, with its tactical action combat system which was ahead of its time, until Black Desert came along. TERA in 2021 is all but a shadow of its former self, with player numbers whittling down. While the game has gone through many changes since launch and even a change of publisher and platform, things aren’t looking rosy for this once beloved action combat MMORPG. This is where classic servers or limited time progression servers, where the focus is more on events or leveling for rewards to bring back to the main server once it’s over could definitely help entice players to come back.

Star Wars The Old Republic

SWTOR is on a road to recovery this past couple of years, with solid game updates that have changed the new player experience, and added to the game with more story content which is satisfying for veterans and more.

A fresh start server here that hearkens back to the humble beginnings of the Republic vs. Empire would excite many players, where the focus is on level 50, and perhaps some timed leveling events offering free ways to gain much sought after items from the store that one could take back to the live servers would all be things players might like. Knowing “EAware”, they would charge a sub for this server, but you’d be surprised at how many would pay up for that close to vanilla experience.

Final Fantasy XIV

While FFXIV certainly doesn’t need any help with player numbers, this popular subscription MMORPG by Square Enix has no reason for an event server of any sort. Or does it? A classic FFXIV server could definitely be interesting, as it focuses on the vanilla game to give new players an chance to experience what it was like at the beginning, or for veterans to relive their early days. The problem is, vanilla FFXIV wasn’t all that great was it, as the newer expansions, its stories and dungeons and raids are what truly makes the game. So while this one is up for debate, it may happen in the future when FFXIV gets older.

Classic servers, limited time servers and fresh start servers have become increasingly popular in MMORPGs. Over the past two years, plenty of MMORPGs – especially long running ones – have released new servers that roll back to the early days of its beginnings to offer players a walk down memory lane. Age of Conan had their Saga of Zath server, ArcheAge released two new fresh start servers for both NA and EU, while RIFT has gain massive success with it’s Prime server. And let’s not forget, World of Warcraft are going to be releasing WoW Classic as well, which millions of players will no doubt jump into to experience vanilla all over again.  And recently, even The Lord of the Rings Online jumped on the bandwagon with the Legendary Servers. With the hype and positivity surrounding classic servers in addition to the benefits it brings to classic MMORPGs, which games could use fresh start servers in 2019 to give the game and its player population a boost?

TERA

TERA used to rule the world of Asian MMORPGs for a time, with its tactical action combat system which was ahead of its time, until Black Desert came along. TERA in 2019 is all but a shadow of its former self, with player numbers whittling down. While the game has announced major plans for 2019, including a level cap increase to 70 in May, it still needs something special to bring players back. This is where classic servers or limited time progression servers, where the focus is more on events or leveling for rewards to bring back to the main server once it’s over could definitely help entice players to come back.

Star Wars The Old Republic

How the mighty have fallen. But don’t let SWTOR’s inclusion in this list fool you. The problem with SWTOR however, is how Bioware and EA are slowly but surely, killing it with the slow pace of content updates and its infuriatingly increased focus on the Cartel Store, aka the cash shop. What players really want to see is new meaningful content and story for the game, especially one that fleshes out their class stories, or brings back the heart of the Star Wars saga.

A fresh start server here that hearkens back to the humble beginnings of the Republic vs. Empire would excite many players, where the focus is on level 50, and perhaps some timed leveling events offering free ways to gain much sought after items from the store that one could take back to the live servers would all be things players might like. Believe it or not, there have been some worst MMORPG moments this year, amidst all the good new games that released in addition to all the glorious content drops this year. From beloved games shutting down to unwanted public spats between studios and players, here’s our list of the worst MMORPG moments of 2018.

Wildstar Shuts Down

Arguably the worst MMORPG moment of the year goes to Wildstar. Fans and players of Carbine’s sci-fi fantasy MMORPG could not hold back the tears when in September, the studio announced its closure. That meant Wildstar, its MMORPG released in 2014 was going to shut down later in the year as well. Since the announcements, many sources have revealed the mismanagement and issues surrounding both the studio and the game. From its hardcore beginnings that made a wider audience stay clear, to the lack of any content pipeline after launch, there are many reasons why the game didn’t meet NCSOFT’s expectations. Bottom line, the game made little to no revenue for its publishers, and became a liability. The game officially went out with a bang and farewell party on November 28th 2018.

“You Guys Don’t Have Phones?” Diablo Immortal Fiasco

Blizzard has a few forgettable moments in 2018 for sure, but earning the most fan backlash from BlizzCon this year is the Diablo Immortal reveal. Prior to the announcement, fans were hyped in anticipation for a next generation Diablo title that could successfully succeed where Diablo III can’t due to its age. Unfortunately, fans were stunned into silence when Blizzard announced that Diablo Immortal would be a mobile phone game, prompting one fan to inquire if this was an “out of season joke”. Blizzard in return, jest that fans do have phones don’t they? It was a PR disaster. Most could swallow that they weren’t getting a new Diablo game for PC, but compounding matters further, players discovered that the Immortal was just a mobile game reskin of another one of Netease’s games – the studio working with Blizzard to create the game.

Bless Online’s Curse

May 2018 will remain a very dark period for Neowiz. Bless Online has been garnering plenty of traction over the past 24 months, since it announced that it would be bringing its Korean MMORPG to Steam for the world to play, using a buy to play model that promises a non pay to win experiences. Many who’ve played the Korean version of the game didn’t believe that the game will change or improve its existing issues, mainly the lack of content, optimization and the game’s sub-par combat system. They were right. The game launched with massive hype only to fall on its face within hours, as players discovered issue after issue and began asking for refunds. Big YouTube and Twitch stars also made PSA videos warning players to stay away from it, which definitely hit the game hard. Ultimately, Bless Online went free to play months later, which only confirms what many believed in May that the Steam Early Access launch was nothing more than a cash grab.

Atlas Exposed

For something more recent, look no further than Studio Wildcard’s pirate sandbox MMO, Atlas. Revealed during the 2018 Game Awards show, the developers promised a bigger, better world than what players have seen in ARK: Survival Evolved. However, issues began unraveling the anticipation among players and streamers, as the game missed two consecutive launch deadlines, delaying the release further into December. When the game finally launched, more issues appeared. Folks were stuck at the main-menu for hours, missing any chance for a refund due to Steam’s policies. Additionally, players also uncovered through an exploit that Atlas was really, just a canned Mod for ARK titled Ocean. Some speculate that due to the popularity of the Season Pass for ARK, Studio Wildcard decided to cash in on potential revenue loss by making the mod a standalone game. True? Who knows, but this launch will go down as one of the worst in 2018, and the overwhelmingly negative reviews on Steam says it all.

2018 has been another good year for B2P MMORPGS. While the big names have all soldiered on with new content drops this year, there’s been some new faces too that have offered more choices to MMO gamers. It’s time to share our picks for the top 5 best buy to play MMORPGs of 2018!

#5 World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft released its latest expansion, Battle for Azeroth this year and the behemoth of an MMORPG continues to grow. WoW’s multi-year story telling is it’s biggest draw at the moment, playing up the heat between the Alliance and Horde factions. The game does some clever things with its content in recent years to keep it fresh – better landscape quests, World Quests and BFA even introduced new ideas like Island Expeditions and Warfronts. The latter two did let the player-base down in addition to progression systems that felt “meh”, but patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance did repair some of that damage. Ultimately though, WoW offers something for everyone, whatever your play style is. The end-game scene is still attractive with the new raids and Mythic+ content coming out regularly.

#4 Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Since its relaunch, FFXIV have only gone from strength to strength with each update. For new players, FFXIV offers a unique JARP fantasy experience with its huge world, tons of content from quests to story, and group content. The sub you pay ensures that content rolls out frequently, with patches usually bringing in a boat load of content to keep you busy with. The graphics hits the spot for FF fans, and the general quality of the story cinematics are top notch. Don’t rule its group content either. The game offers quite a fair few things for players to tackle, like raids, dungeon and open world content that offers tangible rewards as well.

#3 Black Desert Online

At number three is the very popular Korean MMORPG, Black Desert Online. BDO has been around for a few years now in the West thanks to Kakao Games and Pearl Abyss. Why is BDO considered to be extremely popular?

For starters, the graphics, are excellent. From the first moment you lay your hands on the character creator, you know this game is going to look good on all types of systems. BDO also boasts a very large world with some freedom to build your character through interesting Life Skills besides just combat. The PvE story content is poor, but the combat system is addictive and one of the best action combat systems around today. Furthermore, Black Desert Online is coming to consoles, the Xbox One specifically next year. Players can pre-order the game in January.

#2 Guild Wars 2

For number two, we have Guild Wars 2. Now I know that the base game is currently free, but there are restrictions and you can purchase either the Heart of Thorns or Path of Fire expansion once and unlock everything right away. And why wouldn’t you, this game is awesome, even 6 years after release.

Guild Wars 2 is one of the highest rated MMORPGs of our time and it deserves that accolade, because it introduced so many industry defining mechanics that makes MMOs fun to play. For example, the incredible world that reacts to player input, popping up huge world events and bosses that are actually a lot of fun to play and participate in. The game has a very long main story that is decent and offers decent immersion for players looking for a great theme park casual MMORPG. But don’t let that casual tag fool you – GW2’s raids and higher tier Fractals offer quite the challenge for end-gamers.

If PVP is your thing, then jump into the world renowned World vs World PVP mode. It’s servers battling each other in large battles for pride. There’s also structured PVP for small groups that are really fun and surprisingly balanced. Ultimately, Guild Wars 2 offers an amazing amount of content that you can already play for free right now. And buying to play just adds the expansion and everything else. It’s a bargain since it goes on sale often, and new content rolls out consistently.

#1 The Elder Scrolls Online

And taking the top spot on our list of the best B2P MMORPGS is The Elder Scrolls Online, as it has done the previous year. ESO has been gradually improving with each DLC and Chapter – from Morrowind to Summerset, and we’re expecting more content to drop this year like Murkmire in November.

The DLCs that has been added over the last year or so has also been of good quality. Morrowind and Summerset have added many great features to the game – PvP Battlegrounds for all, the Outfit system, player housing and much more. There’s a lot of value right now, and you don’t even need the optional subscription to start having fun. But for sheer amount of content and quality alone, The Elder Scrolls Online is absolutely good value for money when it comes to MMORPGS and a regular winner of any top buy to play MMORPGS discussion. Considering it goes on sale so much on sale especially on Steam.

Top 5 Best New Features in League of Angels 3

Since it’s launch League of Angels 3 has seen a lot of updates and patches. Building and improving on the base game, these new features add more gameplay elements and variety to League of Angels 3. To help you keep track of all the new and exciting stuff. I present to you the top 5 best new features in league of angels 3.

1. Hero League

League of Angels’ hero league offers a pvp tournament between the top players in the server. This game mode features a cup like structure in which if you lose you’re out. Any one can enter and challenge other players to pvp combat. If you win you get to climb up to the next step and face tougher and tougher opponents. Keep winning and you can eventually become the champion. The champion is displayed vividly atop everyone else and you can watch his battles for the crown. Other than bragging rights, the winner also gets new wings. But worry not, even if you don’t win you still get a reward for participating.

2. Castle Raiders

Castle Raiders is another unique PVP mode. In castle raiders you are presented with a board-game like interface. In it there are 16 connected circles. Each circle is inhabited by an opponent which you must defeat in order to advance. You start from the bottom of the board and at the top there is a chest. You must make your way to chest while defeating tougher and tougher opponents. When you reach the chest you can advance to the next chapter. There are 4 chapters in total and each chapter is harder than the previous one. To sum up, Castle raiders offers a unique spin on the league of angels 3 gameplay and you should give it a look.

3. Scratch-off and Wheel of Fortune

The Scratch-off and Wheel of Fortune are two new features in League of Angels 3. Scratch-off lets you scratch a reward card daily. The scratch card usually contains a fairly nice diamond reward. On the other hand, Wheel of Fortune is an event based game in which you try to earn lucky coins to purchase power up items from the lucky shop. Both features are fairly minor but provide a nice distraction from the main gameplay loop.

4. Wailing Gate

The wailing gate is an event based content which lets you challenge a huge boss two times a day. Each boss requires different tactics. For example this weeks boss requires good area of effect damage in order to wipe out his minions quickly. If you manage to defeat the encounter you can progress to a harder variation of it with increasingly better rewards. It is highly recommended that you try to progress as far as you can in the wailing gate as it offers some of the best rewards in the game.

5. Guild War

Guild war is a new feature in League of Angels 3. This new mode pits two similar powered guilds against each other. In this mode One guild attacks while the other defends. In short, the attacking guild must destroy the defending guild buildings. While the defending guild must prevent the attackers from destroying as much building as they can. After a set amount of time, a victorious guild is decided and awarded for their effort. Participating in attacking or defending in a guild war rewards the player with personal points and guild points which can be used to buy items from the guild shop. Overall, guild war is a nice little mode and you should check it out if you enjoy guild versus guild combat.

That’s it for now. Those were our top 5 best new features in League of Angels 3. If you’re new or you’re looking to maximize your gameplay you can check out our tips and tricks guide, and our hero guide.

Top 5 Best DPS Classes for Battle for Azeroth Raids

Picking a class in WoW can be a daunting task. There are many considerations to be had when choosing your main, such as raw damage numbers, raid and dungeon utility and how much you personally enjoy the rotation. And while no one can tell you which class you personally enjoy playing, what I can help you with are the raw damage numbers and how valuable your raid utility might be. With that in mind, I decided to rank the top 5 best DPS classes for Battle for Azeroth Raids. Before getting on to the list, I’d like to point out that I’m not a super hardcore raider but me and my guildies did manage to get the coveted Cutting Edge: Argus The Unmaker achievement, and I had a pretty decent mythic plus score in legion.

1. Warlock

Warlock was the undisputed king of Legion and while it did saw some nerfs in BFA it still remains a very strong class for raiding. Currently affliction warlock is sitting pretty at the top end of the simulation charts both in low pre-raid ilvl and high ilvl. While these sim charts do not provide an accurate representation of a real boss fight, they do give an idea of what to expect from each class. And it’s pretty safe to say warlock has good damage numbers at least in single target.

But of course DPS isn’t everything, class utility also plays a major role when building a raid group and warlock offers some of the best raid utility. the first and most valuable utility warlock provides are healthstones. BFA changed the way healthstones and health potions work, they no longer share a cooldown and you can use both a healthstone and health pot in a fight. This change made healthstones from a nice gold save utility to an absolute must for progression.

Other than that, warlocks also offer Demonic Gateway which allows even the most immobile classes to maximize output and avoid mechanics. Demonic Gateway is pretty much required for some fights and some fights even require more than 1.

The Summon King

The last thing to note about warlock’s utility is the Ritual of Summoning ability which allows summoning raid members. This ability isn’t a combat utility and it may seem minor as you can just as easily use the summoning stone outside the raid. But keep in mind that azerite gear traits can’t be changed on the fly and the only way to respec them is to port back to your major city. This fact may lead to a situation where most of your raid will be asking for a summon between each boss to respec their traits. Having a warlock in the group will save a lot of down time between each boss.

When considering all of these together, we can safely say warlock is one of the best classes currently for BFA raid. I imagine every raid group will want to have at least 1 warlock in the raid, be it for the gateway, summoning portal, healthstones, or simply for the raw damage output.

2. Rogue

The first thing to note about rogue and especially subtlety rogue is that their damage, both single target and AOE, is absolutely insane. currently subtlety rogue sits at the top of the high ilvl chart.

Other than the insane damage rogues provide, they also have the best  personal utility and defensive cooldowns in the form of Feint, Cloak of Shadows, and Evasion or Riposte depending on the spec. I’ll try to breakdown these spells and explain what makes them so valuable. First we have Feint, which reduces all area of effect damage you take by 40% for 5 seconds. Feint allows a rogue to ignore some raid wide damaging mechanics while taking minimal damage. It also allows a rogue to sometimes soak a mechanic alone instead of 2-3 people it usually requires. This makes rogues crucial for some fights. For example, the Fallen Avatar fight in Tomb of Sargeras required 2-3 rogues on mythic difficulty. And while we can’t know if BFA bosses will require rogues, rogues will almost certainly be useful and shine and in some fights.

Sneaky Pete!

The second defensive is Cloak of Shadows, which grants you immunity to any magical effect and damage. This ability is pretty self explanatory. You can use it to completely ignore some mechanics or soak a mechanic with zero damage taken. Cloak of Shadows also removes any negative magical effects from you and can be used as an extra personal dispel.

To sum up, rogues have great damage potential both in single target and in AOE situations. Their personal defensives offer great solutions to difficult raid mechanics. Overall rogues are a valuable addition to any raid group and in some fights are mandatory. Choosing a rogue as your main will be a great choice if you want to kill bosses and dodge the fearsome bench!

3. Paladin

Moving on to the next on our list, we have the almighty Retribution Paladin. Ret paladins were middle of the road in terms of damage numbers in Legion. But with BFA’s changes paladins now lead the way in the 2nd and 4th position on the simulation charts.

But, as I said before, damage isn’t everything and utility must be considered as well. Paladins offer some of the best raid utility and cooldowns in the form of Greater Blessing of Kings, Greater Blessing of Wisdom, Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield, and Lay on Hands.

The Buff Machine

Kings and Wisdom are your standard buffs which should be kept up at all times. Kings on either yourself or one of the tanks, and wisdom on one of your healers. These 2 buffs provide great damage absorption and mana regeneration.

Blessing of Protection, is an immunity to all physical damage and can be cast either on yourself or a raid member. BoP can be used in a variety of ways. You can use it on yourself to ignore some mechanics. Another use is to save a raid member that messed up. You can also use it to help out your healers when trying to heal a nasty physical damage DoT.

Divine shield is straight up the best immunity in the game. Allowing you to completely avoid all damage and keep attacking and moving normally. And last but certainly not least, Lay on Hands is more or less a full heal to any raid member, and a good ret paladin can save himself or a raid member easily.

Overall, even if we ignore the great damage output ret paladins currently have, you will want to have at least 1-2 ret paladins in your raid for most fights. Wisdom is crucial for mana intensive fights and BoP can be used to cheese so many mechanics it’s unreal. If you enjoy the role of playing a supportive melee role and still have great damage you should strongly consider rolling as a retribution paladin.

4. Monk

Next on our list, but not falling short of the previous entries, is the Windwalker Monk. Monks were at the top of the DPS charts during the final tier of Legion and it doesn’t seem like they want to give that title away anytime soon. Currently monk sits at the very top of the low ilvl chart, and 4th place on the high ilvl chart. Based on this alone I would recommend monk to anyone that enjoys a melee playstyle. But monk has more tricks other than raw damage.

One major utility monks bring to raids is Mystic Touch. Mystic Touch increases all physical damage the target takes by 5%. This ability essentially increases all of your physical damage dealers damage by 5%. This is huge.Five percent may seem small but it can make the difference between a wipe and a kill on some short enrage timer bosses.

Roly Poly

Other than the damage and increased physical damage, monks also offer utility in the form of Ring of Peace and Leg Sweep. Ring of Peace forms a ring at a target location which prevents enemies from entering. This spell is amazing for some fights and on the verge of required. Placing a ring to stop adds from reaching a location even if they can’t be stunned or slowed is incredible. Leg Sweep shouldn’t be underestimated also. In BFA Blizzard took steps to reduce the number of AOE stuns available and having one is now a bit more rare. Having an AOE stun can be clutch for some add fights and is highly valuable.

Overall, Windwalker monks offer great damage and great utility. They also have great mobility which adds to the fun factor of the class. Monks were one of the strongest DPS classes at the end of Legion and they seem to be going strong into BFA.

5. Mage

Last on our list but certainly not least is the Mage. Mages always had a place in Legion, their reliable damage output, mobility, and strong defensive tools made mages a good option for almost any fight. BFA seems to be going in the same direction. Mage currently sits pretty at the number two slot on the low ilvl chart. And while mage data seems to be missing from the high ilvl chart, mages had good damage output in the beta for BFA. It’s a pretty safe bet to assume mages will have good damage at high item levels.

Other than the great damage, mages also offer some great raid utility in the form of Arcane Intellect and Ice Block. Arcane Intellect increases your raid Intellect by 10%. While Arcane Intellect won’t cause that guy to stop taking avoidable damage, it will increase all of your spellcasters damage output by a good chunk.

Me Am Smart, Me No Stand in Fire

Having Arcane Intellect is a good enough reason alone to have 1 mage in your raid. But on top of that you also get to have Ice Block which prevents all damage taken for 10 seconds. Having this immunity is a huge advantage for mages. You can use Ice Block in a wide variety of ways. Such as soaking a patch designed for 2-3 players, avoiding a mechanic to maximize your DPS, saving your life if your healers are struggling, covering up for a mistake you made earlier etc etc,

Overall, mages have great damage and great raid utility. It’s pretty safe to say that as a mage you will most likely have a spot in the raid. Having at least 1 mage in the group is pretty much required in BFA just for the Arcane Intellect. But even stacking mages is not a bad idea. Mages are strong, mobile and versatile and any raid should have one or more.

And with that, our list is done. Choosing any of these classes will be a good choice for BFA raiding. The last thing I’d like to say is that a good player can shine on any class and unless you are into hardcore raiding, you should play what you enjoy. Thanks for reading!

WoW Patch 8.0 Survival Guide

WoW is getting its next expansion in about a month. In preparation for Battle for Azertoh, Patch 8.0 hits live servers on july 17 for the US and july 18 for EU. We rounded up all the major features coming in WoW patch 8.0.

Artifact Weapons

With the release of patch 8.0, artifact weapons will be retired. Your artifact weapon will stay at the same item level but you will lose all traits. Your weapon will essentially become a regular item like all the rest of your items.

Class Changes

Patch 8.0 also brings all the new class changes and updates. Legion’s classes were highly linked and reliant on some artifact traits. Blizzard are well aware of that fact and so some classes will retain some traits from the artifact weapon as passive bonuses or talents. Other than these changes, 8.0 also brings a lot of different class changes with some spec getting a major overhaul like survival and marksman hunters. You can check out all class changes coming in 8.0 over here.

Stat Squish

Every now and then Blizzard squishes all the numbers to more manageable levels. With damage numbers going up as 2 million and more, Blizzard decided its time for a squish. This stat squish is mostly a visual change as your overall power level should remain about the same except the numbers will be smaller.

Story Quests

Patch 8.0 is the pre-expansion patch to Battle for Azeroth. And no pre-expansion patch will be complete without the prologue to the next expansion. 8.0 will bring several story line quests over a few weeks with events leading to Battle for Azeroth.

War Mode

In BFA, PVP and PVE server categorization is going away. Instead you will be able to choose to turn on or off war mode. Turning on war mode will let you battle other player in open world PVP. And having war mode on will also reward you with increased exp and reputation gains. On the other hand, turning war mode off will let you quest in peace without the threat of being attacked by other players. Patch 8.0 brings the changes to the PVP honor system and war mode to live servers.

Guild UI and Communities

Patch 8.0 brings an overhaul to the guild user interface and adds communities. Communities are groups of players with a common goal or theme. In Legion, many communities were formed in dedicated discord servers. Every class had a discord, you have a secret finding discord, a chosen discord, high M+ discords and so on. For 8.0 Blizzard aims to compliment these communities with in-game UI and options.

New Character Customization Options

Patch 8.0 introduces some new character customization options. Among these changes are new postures for Orcs, new face options and eye color for Blood Elves, and the ability to change your skin color.

Top 10 Path of Exile Unique Items for Leveling

Path of Exile is an old school game. Your build choices are somewhat permanent and trying out new builds usually requires leveling a new alt or spending a huge amount of currency. As with most other ARPGs, PoE offers some items that will speed up your leveling process. We gathered our top 10 Path of Exile unique items for leveling to make your leveling as fast as possible. I tried to choose items which are relatively affordable, but if you have the capital I added a bonus section below.

1. Tabula Rasa

To kick off this list I present to you, Tabula Rasa. Now you probably already know about this item but no leveling item list will be complete without it. Tabula Rasa may seem weird to a new player. It offers no stats at all and it simply has 6 linked white sockets. But for leveling having those 6 links is invaluable. Its use is pretty straight forward, you simply equip it and socket an attack gem with 5 support gems for some crazy damage early on.

2. Thousand Ribbons

While Tabula Rasa is the go to choice for most players, newer players might not be able to afford it. If you’re just starting out in PoE or its a fresh league, Thousand Ribbons is a good alternative. This chest armor provides a little bit of everything. It provides a small of amount of all resistances and maximum life and some added elemental damage to attacks and spells. Overall a good alternative if you can’t afford a Tabula Rasa.

3. Goldrim

Moving on to your helmet, Goldrim is a great choice. Providing you with a good chunk of all resistances and a bit of magic find, Goldrim can serve you well all the way up to end game content.

4. Wanderlust

For your boots, Wanderlust can be a good choice if you’re on a budget. Wanderlust provides a good amount of movement speed and mana regeneration rate. And while the mana regeneration rate may seem trivial, it is actually very helpful especially if you’re 6 linking using a Tabula Rasa.

5. Lochtonial Caress

Regarding gloves, Lochtonial Caress fits perfectly with almost any build. Lochtonial Caress provides you with attack speed, cast speed, a fair amount of life, a chance to get power, frenzy or endurance charge on kill, and Conduit which lets you share your charges with nearby party members. All of these affixes make for a great pair of leveling gloves for solo and party play alike.

6. Atziri’s Foible

Amulets are a bit of a tricky piece to recommend a single fits all builds item. But I believe Atziri’s Foible fits the bill. Providing mana, mana regeneration and reduced requirements for items and gems, Atziri’s Foible is a valuable item for leveling almost any build.

7. Belt of the Deceiver

Moving on to belts, Belt of the Deceiver is a viable choice, mostly for physical based builds but a magic user can also get some use of it. Belt of the Deceiver provides a small amount of all resistances, maximum life, strength, global physical damage, reduced damage from critical strikes, and intimidate on nearby enemies. These affixes make Belt of the Deceiver a great choice for physical builds for its offensive and defensive capabilities, and a decent choice for magic users for its defensive stats.

8. Perandus Signet

Now for rings, your best bet is probably a Perandus Signet. Pernadus Signet most notable affix is its 2% increased experience gain. Other than that it also provides mana, mana regeneration, increased intelligence for each equipped unique item, and additional chance for scrolls of wisdom drops. While these other affixes are not entirely useful for every build, the increased exp gain definitely is and the ring is worth using for that alone.

9. Blackheart

The main problem with Perandus Signet is its price. As a new player you might not be able to afford 2 Perandus Signets or even one. Blackheart is a nice and cheap alternative for physical builds. Blackheart provides you with damage to attacks, maximum life, life regeneration and a chance to cause monsters to flee. If you’re leveling a physical based build, Blackheart is a good cheap choice.

10. Andvarius

Lastly to finish off this list a bit of a curveball, Andvarius. Andvarius is a ring which lowers your resistances by 20%.To compensate for that loss in defense, you get big amount of magic find. This ring can make you very squishy if you’re not careful and balance it out with your other gear. But if you do manage to get resistances from your other pieces, the increased magic find can be a great way to start earning currency early on. Other than 20% reduced resistances, equipping Andvarius also has an opportunity cost associated with. What I mean by that is that if you equip Andvarius not only you have less resistances but it also takes a ring slot which can be used for increased damage or defense. Its a risky ring not suited for everyone, but if you can make it work its a great choice.

Bonus Section

This list tried to keep it relatively cheap and on budget but if you can afford it there are some great pricy options. Seven-League Step are a pair of boots which give 50%(!) increased movement speed. They are super expensive but the movement speed is insane.

A more pricy alternative to Tabula Rasa is Skin of the Lords. Skin of the lords also comes fully linked but it has stats on top of it. The downside with this item is that pretty expensive and on top of that you can only socket corrupted gems inside it, which make for even more expensive spending to be made. If you can afford it, Skin of the Lords is an amazing choice as it provides the same benefits as Tabula Rasa but adds some great affixes on top of it.

This concludes our list for top 10 Path of Exile unique items for leveling. I hope this list will help out new and seasoned players alike. Let me know what you think over on our facebook!
